There is NO practical reason for gays to have Marriage. The ONLY reason they want it so bad is to slap straights in the face. THAT and nothing more.

I can think of at least one, very practical reason. When one of them dies, the other is automatically the main heir and can retain undivided possession of the estate.
In America it's also practical when one of them gets sick, then the other is considered a relative and can visit and have decision rights if the sick person is unable to decide.
Here in Sweden we have so many living togheter without marriage, so I don't think that's an issue.
As they have been slapped in the face for thousands of years, isn't it time they get to do the slapping now?
Why do you people always think that it's about YOU?
It just never fucking occurs to you that maybe, just MAYBE, people want what they want for themselves, and not just to fuck you over.
People who commit to each other deserve to have that commitment respected, no matter who they are, or where they go. Asshat.
@Swede
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I have a friend who lost everything after her partner died for the very reason you mentioned.
Oh, and there is one more reason-because they truly love each other.
Don't flatter yourself TED. Nobody gives a shit that you take something that's none of your business as a personal insult. That's your problem.
Yeah, cause the hetero divorce rate among good christians like yerself doesn't already slap the idea of marriage in the face, then bend it over and gang rape it till there's no meaning left in it but an empty title to wave around like your dick to show how you're superior to those "nasty faggots"
There is NO practical reason for women to have the right to vote. The ONLY reason they want it so bad is to slap men in the face. THAT and nothing more.
There is NO practical reason for blacks to integrate. The ONLY reason they want it so bad is to slap whites in the face. THAT and nothing more.
There is NO practical reason for prawns to have a way to get back to their home planet. The ONLY reason they want it so bad is to slap humans in the face. THAT and nothing more.
It's funny, as a heterosexual I wouldn't even begin to kid myself that I know all that goes on in a gay guy's mind. People like TED, though, don't seem to have that obstacle... I wonder why.
Well then, we'll just take away YOUR right to marriage and see how you like it.
After all, the only reason straights get married is to lord it over those nasty, smelly gays who can't get married in most of the country. Right? </sarcasm>
Excuse me, but what is the "practical" reason for YOU to marry someone?
[crickets chirping]
Yeah, I thought so. NEXT!
Yeah, because it's not like the legal contract of marriage comes with a bunch of benefits that gay couples might want access to, right? Like being able to visit your partner in the hospital for example.
We've had gay marriage for years now, nothing. Not a damn thing, I haven't even seen a gay marriage (not that I've gone looking for one).
So how is it they're slapping us straights in the face?
@A'mael and Tykittää: I know, I can't believe how arrogant and self-absorbed these people are. They just don't seem to understand that not everything revolves around them, that some people do things for reasons that are wholly unrelated to them.
According to them, if women become/are feminists, it's because they want to be men or because they hate men. If women are lesbians, it's because they are either trying to flaunt God's word or because they are trying to gratify men's libido (it's impossible, you see, for lesbians to be wholly uninterested in men to the point of not wanting to perform random acts with each other to turn men on). If non-white people point out an instance of discrimination against themselves, it's because they're trying to discriminate against white people. If J.K. Rowling writes another Harry Potter book, it's because she's trying to introduce children to devil worship and the occult.
These people take EVERYTHING that they see as wrong as a personal insult against THEM. Which is pretty sad and pathetic.

Fixed. Hey, makes about as much sense as what this person said.
I must be gay, after all, I want to slap *you* in the face... owait, no, I'm not... what were we talking about again...?
Can you think of a practical reason for heterosexual marriage? WITHOUT bringing up your god?
The reason they want it so bad is because they want the rights and benefits heterosexual couples get. How would you like it if your spouse was in the hospital and you weren't allowed to visit them?

Why don't these nut-jobs ever take even three minutes to look at the other side's arguments? I mean, how long would it take on the Internet to find a list of practical reasons? It's not like they look at the counter-arguments and then come up with objections to them. They aren't even aware of anyone else's opposing opinion.
Let's take away your license and see how well you can do without legal rights. First off, if something was to happen to your spouse and they're in the hospital, you can't make any decisions for him because you're not the spouse. You are not eligible for any tax breaks you can receive because you're not married. If your spouse dies, then there are several privileges would not be available to you. Without a will, any property your spouse had would go to their immediate family, not you. Even with a will, the family can contest it. All this is for a piece of paper that the government says that two people are married. The issue of homosexual marriage is not to change the definition of marriage, but to have the same legal rights you do as a heterosexual.
There is NO practical reason for gays interacials to have Marriage.
There is NO practical reason for gays Sterile people to have Marriage.
There is NO practical reason for gays Ted to have Marriage.
No to one and two. Yes, to #3.
There is a practical reason. If there is a woman I love, I want to be able to call her my wife. Straight folks don't own the 'rights' to the word marriage.
Also, if I were to marry a woman, we'd want the same marriage benefits, etc, that straight folks get. You know, like visitation rights in the hospital, among other things.
Love isn't practical. Ever. Why should my rights be denied because the person I love is of the same gender as me?
@Swede
None of those things require marriage necessarily.
Civil unions can be a thing.
@1992319
They do have the same rights. They can marry someone of the opposite sex and form a marriage. Not my problem if they're not interested.
Confused?
