I completely agree with you. I do not think that religious views should be taught in schools. That's exactly why I believe evolution, big bang, and the age of the earth should be taken out of textbooks and never taught. Teach all of the faiths either in private schools or in churches, at your cost, not the states. I think that's pretty fair.

Now if you want to present theories to young impressionable school children, go for it, but you had better present it that way. And you had better give both sides of the story, otherwise you are just brainwashing the kids. I wouldn't want teachers to say, "now kids, as we know the earth is 6000 years old." That's a lie, we don't know that and it hasn't been proven, it's a belief.

If you wanted to teach kids, "Well the evolution theory states that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, and this is why they believe that, and the creation theory states that the earth is 6000 years old, and this is why they believe that, and neither of them are proven but those are the two major theories on the age of the earth, etc." then I am perfectly happy with that. If you don't want public schools teaching your children about religion, you better look at it from both sides, because it's not right putting a false impression on children. Telling them that it is known the earth is 4.5 billion years old and we came from apes is a straight up lie, because we do not know that.
