Mythology is often referred to as imaginary gods or imaginary animals that walked the earth and is generally thought of as beliefs that people had in the past because humans are under the erroneous asumption that we're smarter today than people in the past. But they overlook the fact that people in the past also thought the same thing about their intelligence and people in the future will always prove current thinking wrong again. So the biggest myth of all is that there are no myths in current society. Here are just a few of them:
1) Dinosaurs
2) Apes breeding humans
3) the Big Bang
4) the ice age
None of the above were ever witnessed by anyone in history any more than the gods were witnessed or pink unicorns were.

All but point 2 are correct, well done! Hence "prehistory".
Apes breed humans because humans are apes.

Until recently, Carico was just saying things that were stupid. But the past few comments of hers that have been posted here go beyond stupid and have achieved a whole new level of brain-numbing ignorance.
And if I read this correctly, she is actually saying that the 4 points she has listed are not myths. Following the actual "logic" in this, there is no god and these things are true.
Somebody help me! Am I reading this right or is this physco-babble starting to rot my brain?
2) Apes breeding humans
Will this be an in captivity breeding program or will we be allowed to roam free on a reserve?
1) Dinosaurs
Yes, God put those fossils there to fool the rebellious sinners into believing a lie.
2) Apes breeding humans
Humans are apes. The current species of apes do not interbreed, that's why they are called species.
3) the Big Bang
You probably deny the expanding universe too. Red shift and all. God probably just put those stars in the heavens too far away from us for their light to reach us, in order to fool the rebellious sinners again. Or maybe light used to go a whole lot faster 6000 years ago than it does now.
4) the ice age
and plate tectonics, don't forget that.
Question, Carico: Do you think that nobody can (or should) be convicted of a crime, even with a wealth of physical evidence demonstrating guilt and none contradicting it, just because there was no eyewitness to the act?
If you DO believe this, I hope you never get picked to serve on a jury. But if you do NOT believe this, then why would you consider forensic evidence acceptable for determining (for instance) the circumstances of a human's death in the modern age, but not anything about the life or death of dinosaurs, other animals, or humans in earlier times? The basic principle is exactly the same -- examining the evidence and deducing the facts.
Denying that dinosaurs ever existed, for example, requires a pretty tall explanation for all those huge skeletons that have been dug up. THEY, at least, DO exist, and we have millions of museum-going witnesses to THAT!
I don't think people are necessarily smarter nowadays than in the ancient past, just collectively more knowledgeable -- though in cases such as yours, Carico, I'll make an exception.
~David D.G.
There are not witness for that, BUT THERE ARE FOSSILES, and geological proofs, more solid than a book written by ignorant nomads who didn´t have a hudrenth of the current tecnology, and not even half the one at the time telling about facts which, by the way, WERE NOT WITNESSED BY ANYONE THEN EITHER.
Hairband, you seem to assume that said breeding would be for the sake of preserving the species. Don't forget that alimentary or test-subjects providing purposes are also a possibility. :P
So the biggest myth of all is that there are no myths in current society.
Nobody said that, you idiot. We are all too aware that even in scientifically advanced countries there are still people believing such myths as old Jealous upstairs, the Rupture, UFOs or Xenu, not to mention urban legends.
Nobody alive actually witnessed Vesuvius burying Pompeii, so I guess that didn't happen either.
If Carico's husband comes home smelling of "Blonde by Versace", with lipstick on his chest and his boxers on backwards, is he home free because she didn't actually witness anything?
1) Nope, that one's true, sorry.
2) Strawman - open a biology book please! An actual one that doesn't have stork dropping babies down chimneys. Please!
3) Ooooh my. How much evidence are you willing to ignore?
4) Which fucking one? Surely not all of them?
And history is in insignificant pimple on the ass of Earth. Get some perspective- open your tiny little mind and after the shit's finshed pouring out, let some facts in.
I have read posts where the idea of hers that monkeys breed humans etc. is wrong. She maintains that is what evolution is about no matter how many times it is explained. She doesn't WANT to give it up because she loves to bitch about it, although she is the only one with the ridiculous 'theory'. She is a bottomless, stinking pit of mind-sucking, patience depleting, ulcer-giving stupidity of monolithic proportions. She is the antonym of learning, she is an army of one against the tyranny of reality. She is a faith marinated, fairytale spouting, hermit of non-reason. Even to speak her name is enough to drive your I.Q. down a whole point. My brain is a mass of physical and mental scars from my attempts to introduce logic and remove the baseless ideas of insane 'reasoning' from her beartrap like mind.
Wait, there may be some truth in here...
humans are under the erroneous asumption that we're smarter today than people in the past.
Indeed. Modesty is good...
But they overlook the fact that people in the past also thought the same thing about their intelligence and people in the future will always prove current thinking wrong again.
Yes, yes, yes. That's what science is all about... go on...
So the biggest myth of all is that there are no myths in current society. Here are just a few of them:
1) Dinosaurs
2) Apes breeding humans
3) the Big Bang
4) the ice age
Oooooh, swing and miss. To hits in a row is not so bad though.
I was hoping you would eventually conclude that people, at some point should start moving on from the old myths in the bible.
Thank you for playing and welcome back.
BUT THERE ARE DINOSAUR FOSSILS!
WE HAVE ONE HALF APE GENE!
THERE IS GEOLOGICAL EVIDENCE THAT PROVES THAT THERE WERE MULTIPLE ICE AGES!
Crap... My caps lock was on. Ah well, too lazy to go back and retype...
"1) Dinosaurs
2) Apes breeding humans
3) the Big Bang
4) the ice age

You are indeed correct, none of these have been witnessed by anyone (there propably were tribal humans during the last ice age, but they didn't record anything).
With the exception of #2 (which is just a straw man of ToE) they all have been concluded to be the best and most accurate explanation for the evidence found, on Earth or from looking in to space.
You see in science we don't make up the conclusion and then work backwards and fit "evidence" to support our claims. We actually look at the evidence being accumulated and see where they point.
For an example, There are markings in the bedrock of my home country (Finland), the markings are all facing the same way, they look identical and are found almost everywhere. This would suggest that something really heavy and big has slid or was "dragged" over the rocky surface. There are also huge boulder, that couldn't have been carried or drawn with horses to where they are. These coupled with other geological evidence points towards a huge sheet of ice has once covered my country and has since melted.
1. fossils
2. fossils
3. fossils , sort of CBR.
4. Ice cores
I may have witnessed a pink unicorn, it said things would be ok, I was pretty tanked on painkillers at the time.
Confused?
