Brad Dachus of Pacific Justice complained that is a violation of a child’s rights to teach them that Creationism isn’t the truth.

“(I)t’s an egregious violation of the rights of Americans to subject students — as young as five — to an authoritative figure such as a teacher who essentially tells them that their faith is wrong,” he said.

He maintained that to teach science “that is devoid of any alternative which aligns with the belief of people of faith is just wrong.”

COPE, Inc. said that the science standards have a “concealed Orthodoxy” that is bent on undermining the views of the faithful.

“The Orthodoxy is not religiously neutral as it permits only materialistic/atheistic answers to ultimate religious questions,” said the group’s statement. The group maintained that questions like “Where do we come from?” can only be answered honestly by religious dogma.

The statement went on to say that “teaching the materialistic/atheistic ideas to primary school children whose minds are susceptible to blindly accepting them as true” is unconstitutional and dangerous, and therefore the new science standards must be stopped.

The "authoritative figure" isn't teaching the kids that their faith is wrong when studying Nature, merely that it is irrelevant.

Just because children's minds are so susceptible to blind acceptance, the school should always stick to teaching only facts (as in scientific theories). It's not the school's job to indoctrinate kids into one kind of fairy tale or the other, but to impart neutral/materialistic knowledge about the world to the kids. (The only religiously neutral position is atheism/agnosticism, stupid, otherwise you first have to decide WHICH religion, and then it's definitely NOT neutral.) If parents want to lie to their children, it's their prerogative, but the school shouldn't do it.

The only honest answer to the question "Where do we come from?" is "We don't know yet, but we're researching the matter." It isn't honest to say "Goddidit", as that just creates lots and lots of new questions, one of which is "What god?".

...meanwhile in China, their unlimited pool of pure educated talent is constantly supplying that country's state/corporate R&D facilities; unhindered by any 'religion' in their school/college/university curriculae. In Soviet China, God worships you.

If you were to ask a university graduate in Beijing - with a Ph.D in Theoretical Physics - 'Where do we come from?', he/she would simply tell you 'Well, when my mummy loved my daddy very much, and nine months later...; what? Where do you think you came from, an invisible magic man in the sky took a lump of dirt and made you from it?! I'm not seeing that Nobel Prize of yours...! X3

Children go to school so that all the wrong ideas they hold are replaced by the truth, not to be comforted in their delusions as I said here.
Or we can still let children keep believing in Santa Claus so that their dreams are not crushed.

Question, Cre(a)ti(o)nists in the US: Do they teach Creationism in schools, colleges & universities in China...?

Show me what possible practical application Genesis in the Bible has in the race for perfecting Gene Therapy; it's the reason why our Prime Minster - then Leader of the Opposition - David Cameron voted against a ban on Stem Cell research (and thus other related forms of biomedical R&D) in the UK, in a Parliamentary free vote several years ago. He - as the Chinese do - knows about the untold billions, nay, trillions to be made from such.

...but if you lot in the US want to travel to Beijing, London or Havana to have that potentially terminal (in Dumbfuckistan) disease/ailment cured, don't say I didn't warn you. Want to be scientifically inferior to your nearest superpower rival, far be it from me to stop you returning to the Dark Ages; only, don't take the rest of the non-fundie USA with you.

And if you want your country's security services'/military's computer systems compromised by even North Korea, then again fundies: don't say I didn't warn you. Cyberattacks aren't learned from reading a book of fairytales - the Bible - you know.

There's an extremely good reason why - even private tutoring & homeschooling in the UK - has to conform to the National Curriculum, as it's the law. Even 'Faith' schools, if they're to continue to receive state funding, have to teach Evolution & the Big Bang as fact, as the law says so; thus no Kitzmiller vs. Dover required for us.

Like I say, the reason education is so strictly & centrally controlled here in the UK can be summed up in just one word: China.

Ergo the fundies' butthurt, post-Kitzmiller vs Dover; their 'agenda' is legally dead. Judge John E. Jones III (a Christian Conservative) is the real patriot here: educationally protecting his country.
