Real Madrid removes the Christian Cross and loses every major match...

In the present sports season 2014/2015 the Spanish soccer team Real Madrid C. F. lost every major soccer competition it was contesting: Champions League (European League), Copa del Rey (the Spanish championship) and the Spanish League. In each of these there were hopes that Real Madrid would win. In fact Real Madrid was first in the Spanish League for a considerable period of the competition.

It is my opinion that this happened because of the fact that Real Madrid F.C. took off the Cross of Christ from its emblem, in order to not “offend” the Club’s Muslim sponsors, precisely in this season. Here is why I think so:

1 – Real Madrid, in the previous season, still with the Cross on its emblem, won both the Champions League and the Spanish Championship. And its main players are basically the same this season.

2 – Each of the competitions in the present season were won by no other than FC Barcelona, Real Madrid’s century-old rival. Each of the competitions that people hoped would be won by Real Madrid were won by its main soccer adversary. Actually, speaking of soccer one can think of no other rivalry more known in the whole world than the one between those two teams.

4 – And last, but not least: While Real Madrid took the Cross out of the emblem, Barcelona actually has a cross on its emblem. And it is not a common cross without significance. It’s the cross of St. George, the 4th century Christian martyr soldier.

I think it was God’s way of showing people that those who deny Him before man will be punished.

Football. The FC, not CF, stands for football club. This is not difficult.

If God is offended by removing a tiny cross that isn't even distinguishable from an artistic decoration on top of the crown... y'know what we've already had this song and dance way too many times.

It's almost as though putting arguably the best 3 strikers in South America - Suarez of Uruguay, Messi of Argentina and Neymar of Brazil - on the same team makes them almost impossible to beat. Who would've thunk it?

Giving you the benefit of the doubt, that you are referring specifically to football derbies, we can note ManCityxManU, ArsenalxSpurs, NewcastlexSunderland and LiverpoolxEverton to name a few that are just as if not more ancient and deep-rooted than El Clasico.

Most of the teams set up by English or Swiss expats have those crosses in them. Why is Barcelona the only one winning trophies, then? Surely it couldn't possibly have anything to do with the aforementioned attacking trio...

And yet when Man City won the Premier League last year - a team owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group Investment and Development ltd, who changed the name of their stadium to the Etihad to appease the new owners - you weren't in the streets singing the praises of Allah.

And yet when Paul the Psychic Octopus successfully predicted the results of every single match in the 2010 World Cup he was quizzed on - a feat significantly more impressive than anything your God has managed in the last millenium - you weren't out proselytising about our tentacled messiah.

Good grief.

It really is astonishing what these people will decide must have happened based on nothing more than flattery of their own preconceived notions. It's like they have the memories of goldfish... or the awareness of current events of a sheep in New Zealand.

Despite lighting God's predictably short fuse, Real Madrid still finished 2nd in one of the best leagues in Europe and the world. If God wanted to punish Real Madrid for this, why didn't it cause a calamitous chain reaction that would bring about the relegation of this top club? Sure, 2nd place and no trophies is disappointing to a spoiled Real fan, but most fans would be delighted if their team matched the achievements of Real in the season just gone. The fact is they were beaten (not by a large margin either) to the title by a team containing some of the best players in the world, so it's no great shock that Real only finished second to Barcelona, and it would have been a lot more out of the ordinary for the team to be involved in a relegation dog-fight with the calibre of players in their arsenal. Atletico's La Liga title a year ago was more of a surprise, but, of course, Real's successful Champions League campaign can be an excuse for you to hold on to your convoluted theory here.

Where were your detailed predictions before this happened? You'd have to explain why other, typically smaller clubs with religious motifs on their badges have failed to gain God's will (is God a Real fan for the glory?), and why Real's previous barren years, with the old emblem, weren't because of divine retribution. Once again it seems that God-given punishment starkly resembles a conclusion based on rationality and logic: Real's coaching, players, and performances weren't as consistently good as Barcelona's.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt, that you are referring specifically to football derbies, we can note ManCityxManU, ArsenalxSpurs, NewcastlexSunderland and LiverpoolxEverton to name a few that are just as if not more ancient and deep-rooted than El Clasico.

Not to mention the biggest derby in English football between Scunthorpe United and Grimsby Town! I say this as a biased Iron fan, of course. Though, there are plenty of other worthy rivalries with a strong claim to being bigger and more deep set than El Classico; Celtic-Rangers, with their sectarian divide, Lazio-Roma, Galatasaray-Fernabahce, and Ajax-PSV to name a few.
