Personally, I make a rather large distinction between human rights and LGBTQ rights.

In dealing with other countries, I think there are issues far more important within the purview of US stance on human rights than the narrowly-defined agenda of the LGBTQ community.

They have extended their US reach far beyond what is warranted in the US and to extend that even further outside the US would be a diplomatic waste of time given the pressing needs of so many other issues.

I wanted to discuss something and I put this here so I'm noticed and heard....

You know; I sometimes read about the B.S. going on with authoritarian regimes and hate crimes and wonder why you never hear of a mass amount of members of oppressed groups just going out and "returning the favor"....

* Where are the roving gangs of big huge gay men assaulting homophobes? Not all gay men are skinny young prettyboys. Many are as big and manly as anything! I never hear of big strong gay men fighting back and beating the shit out of homophobic assholes.
* Rape is a disgusting this as is cat-calling....but women could easily do the same to men. Men drug women so why not the other way around? Where's the mass of women groping and degrading guys on the street?

....I am by no means wishing for any of this but I'm amazed that it isn't a thing. Now; I do not want to see women turn into rapists and cat-callers. That's sick! On the other hand; I'd love to see some Gay Russian beat the snot out of a jerk or jerks who want to assault him for being gay!

* I wanna see roving gangs of Gays stalking the homophobic Fascist gangs, luring them in and KILLING THOSE BASTARDS!
* I wanna see woman, gays and others suddenly start physically fighting back without mercy when attacked!
* I wanna see that African gal morph into an "Angry Black Woman" stereotype and beat the living shinola out of a Boko Haram wimp!

*Sigh* I know violence isn't the answer and may even be counterproductive but an oppressed minority should at least be able to defend themselves rather than being vulnerable helpless wimps all the time. Oppressors are bullies by nature and Bullies target those who don't fight back. Perhaps a group of beefy Russian Gay Men luring and destroying Gay-Bashers might make them think twice about bashing Gays (especially if they pretend to be Gay-Basher-allies to lure the bashers in. Imagine the paranoia).

I'm even reconsidering the alleged popularity and acceptance of Putin in Russia. It's possible that he's less popular but folks have no choice but to got "Yay Putin!" under penalty of death. If one needs to crack down on freedom, free media, human rights and rig elections to stay relevant then they obviously weren't all that to begin with.

What made me rethink Russia was the fact that I read that there actually are a lot of huge protests against Putin on a regular basis in Russia and that many Prog and Pro-West people are leaving Russia in droves! I'm sure many tolerate Putin due to stability and security (apparently the 'freer' Russia of the 1990s was a very rough time for Russia and Putin actually stabilized things).

I don't deny that the West has a lot of baggage and closet skeletons but what is it with Russia's weird "Anti-West" thing (especially since, in many ways, it's a 'European' country....the Western half, anyway)? For all it's faults; The West tend to be open, freer, with better economies and a higher standard of living. There's color, variety and LIFE! Russia would THRIVE if it became MORE WESTERN, NOT LESS WESTERN.

Russia can be Western and still be Russia! Embracing Freedom, Democracy, Human Rights, Relaxed Sexual Mores, Egalitarianism, Rock Music, Night Clubs, Blue Jeans, Hip Hop or whatever doesn't mean you stop being "Russian". You can still be Orthodox Christians who love Borscht, Vodka, Russian folk music & art, Russian folk tales, Russian history, Russian architecture or whatever.

I don't deny that Western countries have meddled and done stupid things and I understand the anger and resentment from folks in Russia, the Mid-East, Africa or whatever but it really gets me when they equate our government's asinine actions and missteps with our culture and citizens. Katy Perry, The NBA and Neil DeGrasse Tyson didn't trash Iraq, dumbassed military bozos did!

And; Once more....I'd love to hear about a bunch of Russian Gays bashing the Gay-Bashers! That would be poetic justice!

....It's about a bunch of big Gay Bear men giving Chechnya the smackdown over their anti-Gay pogroms. It's not realistic but it sure was satisfying to write.

Why? You're saying that people born non-cis are not humans?
The only distinction is that we're defending rights that we already have, they are fighting to gain those rights.

Narrowly-defined? Equal rights is narrow to you?

You're aware that there are LGBTQIA+ people all over the world, right? It's not something unique for the US. If anything, their rights are more threatened in the US than in most parts of Europe.

Sure, there are many other pressing needs. Like providing women, even in third world countries, with reproductive rights. The Orange Clown has deprived many of this, with the reinstated gag rule, which will kill lots of women and children (as in actually born and breathing children). (Though, most of the rest of the Western world stepped in and tries to assist where the US now refuses to assist, to make the damage to the already suffering as little as possible.)

People dying of preventable causes is never a diplomatic waste of time, asshole.
