In answer to your question, NO, this most certainly did NOT occur, either with Clinton or any other President in my memory!!!!! John Kennedy was very well-loved...Reagan was real popular, but this Obama-worship is in another category altogether!
I am an "old-timer" of 62 years old and I have never seen anything remotely like this scary, blind adulation of Obama!!!! Not even close!
Reminds me of Hitler...the masses of people were ECSTATIC...women were said to fall down at his feet and kiss his boots (I am NOT making that up -- read his biography!!!).
This is SO SCARY, folks!

"Reagan was real popular"
Oh please, Republicunts worship Reagan's lifeless corpse.
"Reminds me of Hitler..."
Reminds me of Godwin.
OH really? You don't remember the huge fucking crowds chanting BUSH BUSH BUSH, 4 MORE YEARS, like a mantra?
Your age might explain the selective amnesia.
I'm not an American, but I've got a shrine to Obama in the corner of my bedroom. I spend 15 minutes of quite contemplation in it every day.
I heard that a group of Obama followers somewhere in America are raising money and hope to build a sanctuary in Obama's honour. Also, did you hear about the confectionery manufacturer that plans to release chocolate Obama Bars.
Love ya, Pule.
If you are 62, Hitler was dead before you were even born. So nothing can remind you of Hitler, unless it is ancient film news clips, which are equally available to everybody else of this generation. You use one minute clips by propgandist machines to enhance a memory you never had.
You are, to put it in simple language, full of shit! Or even more simply, you are a liar! No I am not defending Hitler. He was a real cunt.
Norm
Maybe you overestimate the popularity of Hitler a little bit, Waiting4Jesus, even in the last free election (1938) in germany before the end of WW2, Hitlers Party only got 44% of votes.
Especially the more educated people weren´t very fond of him. Most of the voters of his party were conservative and religious, often had ties to the military (and usually didn´t belong to the academic population stratum in germany)
People are just so damned happy and grateful to be rid of the idiot Bush, the Republicans, and not to have been faced with the horror of what might have been an even more corrupt and incompetent (if that's even possible) Mccain/Palin administration, that it's taking a little while longer for them to come down from the high. Get over it.

Then either your memory sucks, or you're a damn liar
"John Kennedy was very well-loved"
Why did he got shot then?
"Reagan was real popular"
In a lets laugh at the village idiot kind of way.
"I am an "old-timer" of 62 years old"
You read more like an altzheimer
Being only 29, I can't remember Hitler, he died long before I was born. But this does remind me of how much I keep hearing how awesome Reagan was and my father hated Reagan. Now that I am older I can see why.
"I am an "old-timer" of 62 years old and I have never seen anything remotely like this scary, blind adulation of Obama!!!! Not even close! "
I am a young timer and I remember the fundies falling all over Bush because he was personally chosen by god to be The One to lead America. You are full of shit.
"I am an "old-timer" of 62 years old and I have never seen anything remotely like this scary, blind adulation of Obama!!!!"
Yeaaah pappy, you tell 'em neegro-lovin' queers, Yeeeehaw!!!
Obama is likable (or "likable enough" as he said of Hilary Clinton), but I think a lot of what funditards refer to as "adulation of Obama" is actually a huge sense of joy and relief that Bush and his cronies are finally ... finally ... out of office.
Nah, nah, nah, nah. Hey, Hey, Hey. Good riddance!
Umm, shouldn’t we wait until someone starts acting or talking like Hitler before we compare the two?
From Mein Kampf:
“Never forget that the most sacred of all rights in this world is man's right to the earth which he wishes to cultivate for himself and that the holiest of all sacrifices is that of the blood poured out for it.”
From The Audacity of Hope:
“We will need to understand just how we got to this place, this land of warring factions and tribal hatreds. And we will need to remind ourselves, despite all our differences, just how much we share: common hopes, common dreams, a bond that will not break.”
Now do these men sound even remotely alike?
What W4J has or hasn't seen in his 62 years is rather beside the point. He/She is missing the real point which is that people are relieved to have got rid of Bush, once and for all. What about GWB's lies and the blood of Americans on his hands? Barack Obama is a pussycat as yet.
Time enough to formulate an opinion on what he does in six months time. Now is way to early, and your jumping onto this particular bandwaggon shows how anxious you are to air your prejudices!
Now go to hell and roast the on a spit.
I'm not quite 62, but I do remember when Reagan committed treason against the country by approving the sale of arms to Iran, a country that he himself had described as a terrorist nation. And I remember him saying "I just can't recall" when he was called on it. Either he was lying to congress about something far more serious than a BJ, or he honestly did not know what his own foreign policy was (frankly, I'd believe either explanation).
And yet, there was no impeachment, no censure, nothing of any real note! If Obama could pull off something even remotely similar to that, you just might have something. Until then, you are being scared over nothing.
But then, that's the natural state for your lot.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
