From what little I know about Mo; He preferred his women older and more matured and he married Aisha....who was likely older....out of necessity and Aisha's only described as 6-9 in ONE Hadith of questionable veracity.
Also; Aisha, like Mohammed's other wives, was actually a strong woman and a great leader who fought and taught alongside the guy.
The Hadiths were written YEARS after Mohammed lived and were written by many different people with many different perspectives. Some envisioned a nobler Mohammed while others envisioned a DAESH-like Mohammed.
The guy who penned the thing with the prophet marrying a child envisioned a Creepy Pedo Mohammed.
Sure; There's a lot in the Islamic scriptures and teachings that's incredibly ridiculous and repressed. However; The Bible at times was even worse yet there's plenty of Jews and Christians of the peaceful, Liberal, non-prudish, open-minded variety who are fine with that anthology and able to separate the Progressive wheat from the Regressive chaff.
If all the world religions are to survive....they need to be torn down, rebuilt and welcome critical theory, reason, fluidity, metaphor and humanism. To make it easy; The "Demiurge" principle must be applied. "Demiurgic" would mean any scripture that is "chaff" and based on a false, human-made concept of Deity.
Demiurgic Principles would be anything that promotes bigotry, repression, prudery, ignorance, frummerism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ethnicism, brutality, warfare, separation, nationalism, Patriarchy, etc. will bee seen as Demiurgic and therefore EVIL & FALSE.
The Demiurge Principle can be applied to any faith out there be it Abrahamic, Dharmic, Far Eastern, Animist, Pagan, whatever.
If I were a Muslim or a Muslim convert; I would go by the Quran and any Hadith that shows Mohammed in a more merciful, Progressive, humane light. Likewise; The nastier bits of the Quran would be understood as speaking out against ONLY the Christians, Jews, etc. who persecuted and opposed Mohammed and his people and not Christians, Jews, etc. in general (who will be regarded as 'Honorary Muslims' and 'People of the Book'). I would also apply the Demiurge Principle.
I'm a Universalist. Sometimes I'm a ShaktaPagan but in reality I'm a Universalist, Interfaith NeoPagan. I may speak in terms of Devi/Deva, Shiva/Shakti, DeviMata, AdiShakti, etc. but I'm not strictly Hindu. All Faiths are true from a certain point of view and as long as the Demiurgic aspects are disregarded.
PERSONAL SPIRITUAL MANIFESTO THINGY RANT OVER.
