And if this is true (Highly, HIGHLY doubtful: if anything, it's made up by 'witnesses'), the kid was probably just acting on what the pastor or the other homophobic churchgoers told him about teh gheyz.
I see the editorial standards are as high as ever.
Maybe someone over on Conservapedia should stop and think "Would the editors of the Encyclopedia Britannica accept this?" before they just slap shit up there.
I would imagine that at least half of the rioters weren't gay at all, just people looking to commit crimes and tear up the place under the police radar. That being said, the gays that let that riot get out of control were assholes, but were not representatives of the GLBT community.
It also seems that Conservapedia's article on the subject has been permamently locked, prohibiting anyone who might have a different opinion from editing it.

If they'd say, "Maybe we ought to check this out a little better," that's the cue for Conservapedia to decide it must be gospel truth. Often literally.

Then again, if they /aren't/ real quotes, there's a different sort of something wrong... (ie. a position you need to lie to support isn't much of a position, and if you don't need to lie but do anyway, you aren't much of a person...)

My gut is screaming, "Bullshit!" about this. It sounds too fake. Perhaps the writer had just watched that scene in "The Blues Brothers" where they're being as obnoxious as possible in the French restaurant and Jake tells the diner at the next table: "Sell me your children. Supposedly there was a protest at the church against some anti-gay speaker. What happened after that, who knows.

Its disgusting when Christians carry out any kind of discrimination against homosexuals, buts it's equally reprehensible when any other group acts in an intolerant manner.
Although clearly biased, I think the YouTube video linked in the article on the riot shows that the pro-homosexual demonstrators were not exactly civil.
I'm an atheist, but if a protester of any kind attempted to block my entry into a church, I would break their nose then and there.

You can imagine how that kid's been brought up with the gays literally demonised by his church leaders. He wasn't afraid of the gays he was afraid of teh demonz. Because to him, they were one and the same thing.
I dare say some of the gays there made a few sarcastic remarks. And why not, when some mad fundy preacher was railing against them and calling them Satanic in the church.
