Ya know, 5% of all people are christian fundamentalists. These 15% are very vocal though, which is fair enough, because they are 27% of ALL people, after all. Now, some may say that christian fundamentalists (who constitute 33% of all people) have a problem with reality (hardly, seeing that they constitute 49% of all the people). "We", these 61% say, "are very much in touch with reality. How else would we have become 77% of the populace?. In fact, making up 85% of all people, is a huge responsibility. Reading our bible daily has made us the large (94% of the population) group that we are today." True words, when you consider that 107% of all people are christian fundamentalists. However, of these 121% (140% of which in North America) almost 7 out of 4 people aren't really good with maths. :(

Oh, so Americans are stupid, eh?
I guess that's why the USA was the first country to elect its top level officials with the most democratic government since Ancient Rome, why this country declared that any person could join or not join any religion they want, why the usa was the first country to declare that a citizen on trial was assumed innocent until proven guilty and require its police forces to have proper warrants to search the homes/offices of suspected criminals, why it was able to bring railroad tracks 3000 miles from coast to coast, long before Russia did such a thing, why the Cotton Gin was invented in America, as well as the automobile, airplane, telephone, telegraph, television, personal computer, not to mention countless other inventions, that are even being created today and tommorow. Don't forget that the USA did most of the heavy lifting in rescuing the world from Nazi Germany and Japan, as well as keeping Soviet Russia in its place during the cold war. And if none of that is good enough for you, I would also like to mention that some of the best universities and research facilities, including Yale, Princton, Harvard, Brown, Duke, Stanford, Cornell, plus many others. Over the past several decades, numerous scientists would consider the USA a rich haven for research. Despite the patriot act going into effect, the USA is still a leader in personal freedoms (with a few notable exceptions), for example, a person in England can get into legal trouble for not being politically correct (such things wouldn't bother you though), for speaking badly against others, even if the accusations are true and the accused is a corrupt and oppressive large business. The USA still protects such freedoms. Oh, but were just of bunch of idiots, aren't we?

1. In regards to heliocentricity, since when did you become an expert on how well Americans are educated? Do you have something to back this up? Even if this might be true, nearly half of the Brits don't know anything about Auschwitz. And I am just getting started here. 2. 60 million votes for Bush in 2004? Did you forget that those 62 million votes only represented 50.7% of the popular vote? If Bush did not hump and overplay his war on terror card, he would not have been nearly as successful with his re-election. Take into consideration that he was an incumbent, and the fact that a war (an unjust war), was going on. Virtually NO american presidents have ever lost an election as a wartime incumbent. 50.7% is a pathetic percentage for an incumbent president, especially when there is a war of some sort going on. You look at the glass as being slightly more than half empty, rather than almost half full. This does not even take into consideration the voting age adults who did not vote at all across the country, because of having so much disgust with the status quo, and having nearly lost all faith with the government. John Kerry is a U.S. Senator. Only 2 U.S. senators in history have ever became president. The reason being is that they typically have such a long political career, in which they have to make multiple compromises to be able to pass legislation. As a result, it is quite easy for political opponents to be able to tear them down when they run for president. The cards were extremely and unfairly stacked against John Kerry, not to mention the fact that John Kerry was an incredible cornball lightweight in the presidential debates, as well as his television ads. He had numerous opportunities to tear Bush a new asshole, but he thought that he would 'Take the high road'. It took an idiot to defeat Bush, and Kerry was that idiot. If the cowardly mainstream section of the Democratic party had supported Howard Dean like they should have, Dean would have won in a landslide. (Fuck you Ted Kennedy). You should also take into consideration that Republicans made great efforts to stop people from registering to vote, or even just voting in general, and even went so far as to shut down voting machines in Ohio. Do some research and you will clearly see that every election discrepency benefitted Bush. Even the exit polls showed Bush losing in Ohio, the key state of the election. The exit polls have never before contradicted the reported final results in any previous election on the presidential level. You should also take more recent events into consideration. Various polls across the country report that Bush currently has between a 27% and 33% approval rating. Ned Lamont, a full-fledged liberal, has defeated Joseph Lieberman (a moderate with some conservative fetishes) in the democratic primary for the US Senate. The biggest reason why Lieberman is said to have lost the primary is because of being too supportive of Bush. It is no longer the year 2002 or even 2003, in which it is considered admirable to support the president, regardless of party affiliation. Lamont's victory in November is all but assured. And I have not even begun to talk about the other nationwide victories and trends that we are currently experiencing, including the recent polls for Kinky Friedman in the most flag waving state in the union: Texas. Various sources could tell you that the USA voting population is slanting more and more to the left, and large democrat congressional victories are said to be imminent come election day. Last I checked, Julian, the people of Australia have voted for John Howard on repeated occasions, a well known conservative, which even you have admitted, and they didn't have some bogus war on terror that scared them into doing it. Even though he is a member of the so-called 'liberal' party, his track record is anything but liberal. He is pro-national security, pro-business, pro-Israel, anti-gay marriage, and anti-refugee. I hate to say this, Julian, but the general poplace of Austrailia outside the larger cities like Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney is considered largely to be consisted of right wing rednecks. But if you want to talk about Southern Baptists, Bill Clinton and Al Gore are southern baptists. Bill Clinton had made numerous reforms for this country, including, but not limited to the matters of educational, environmental and national deficit spending. Bill Clinton also won a Rhodes Scholarship to University College, Oxford. Al Gore is a devoted environmentalist, and recently released a critically acclaimed documentary that enjoyed success in theatres. I felt that it was only fair that I brought up this 'Inconvenient Truth' against your arguments. The far right fundamentalists certainly do have a tight group which makes all the noise and even influences the republicans with such bullshit organizations as 'Focus on the Family', etc., BUT THEY DO NOT REPRESENT THE MAJORITY. If this is not making any sense to you, also take into consideration as to how influential jewish people are, despite being less than 2% of the population. The largest denonimation in the USA is actually Catholic, a sect that has quite a diverse body of believers, many of whom live in the Northeast and West Coast, traditional liberal hotbeds. Mel Gibson (who comes from Australia, by the way) represents the farthest right of the Catholics, the kind who would claim the current pope is illegitimate and also deny the holocaust. Great Britian did not allow women to vote until 1928, 8 years after the USA. Canada only granted women the right to vote two short years before the USA, in 1918. By the way, numerous nations in Europe also granted the women the right to vote in 1918. Australia is only 19 years better than the USA, granting women the right to vote in 1901 (except for aboriginies, who didn't get the right to vote until 1963). Most of the rest of the world has not granted women the right to vote until years later, assuming they granted them rights at all. For some reason, you didn't mention those numbers. Geez, I wonder why. Could it be because it does not fit into your America-bashing agenda? You make it seem like all the other nations of the world granted women the right to vote 1000 years ago, LOL!
