That is all the proof I need, that Hitler was not a Christian. Read some of his quotes regarding Christianity. He said some very anti-Christian things.

And I think it is you, who is the brainless brainwashed one here. Believing any anti-Christian garbage you read on the Internet, without doing any actual research on the subject.

I read most of the essay this guy had, and he actually has some good sources. However, I'd like to see them for myself. I don't think Hitler was a Christian, but he was probably influenced by some of the ideas... He was just a sick man, and could very well twist some rather off-putting Christian principles (we all know what they are) to his own advantage.
In any case, Hitler was NOT an atheist, like some may claim.
"An educated man retains the sense of the mysteries of nature and bows before the unknowable. An uneducated man, on the other hand, runs the risk of going over to atheism (which is a return to the state of the animal) as soon as her perceives that the State, in sheer opportunism, is making use of false ideas in the matter of religion, whilst in other fields it bases everything on pure science."

But by this guy's same reasoning, you can't stay Stalin was an atheist, because his principles are so unlike those of atheism.

Christians are just afraid that people who claim they're Christians can be bad people, because apparently bad people aren't "true Christians." Fine, then, "bad people" aren't "true atheists" either. It's faulty logic.

ORLY? "Anti-Christian"? Most of the quotes of his that are anti-christian are him bemoaning how Christianity makes it so that its adherents aren't militant and hateful enough to acheive his desired ends. His hatred of the church was that it made the Christian populace placid and willing to tolerate perceived injustice, rather than presenting the rage that he desired of them. None of these are exactly an insult. In fact, his "hatred" of Christianity reflects an idealistic view of it that most non-Christians would never have. Especially considering what those good Christians did in the name of God, ethnic superiority, the authority of the state, or a combination of the above.

You know, on one level I actually have to agree with the fundie partially on this one because:

1. Hitler's "views" on religion largely fit whatever audience he was trying to reach.

2. Hitler's religion is pretty vague. He wasn't an atheist but he doesn't appear to have been Christian either. His writings reveal a desire to use Christianity as a tool for control but one that was expendable. He said a lot of vague things about "God" but he wasn't necessarily talking about the Christian God.

3. He's right about believing random anti-Christian stuff online. I've seen people post some of that stuff on the forums here when a little research would have proved something wrong.

That being said, he's retarded to say "This is all the proof I need" then "you, who is the brainless brainwashed one." So I'll give him a solid 3.

This is EelMan4. I'm not a "fundie". I don't go around, yelling "Turn to Jesus!". I respect others rights to believe in whatever they please. So, I find it amusing that you would put my comment on this site, "Jeff".

When I asked him if he thought Hitler was a religious man, he said...

My comments that are on this site are a response to this one.

Yes, Hitler praised God in some of his speeches. But he did it to manipulate the German people.

I don't think he truly believed in the teachings of Christ.

But "Jeff" believes that because Hitler praised the Christian God a couple of times in his speehes, Christianity is evil.

This is just another cheap attack some Atheists try to make. If they did any actual research, they could find out that he spoke very negatively about Christianity, and of course, his actions were completely unchristian-like.

But there were also Nazis who were Pagans and Atheists. Does this make all Pagans and Atheists bad people?

Of course not.

I'm bored so I'll add in my two cents.

How do you know Hitler was in fact a Christian? He could have been or he could not have been. It could go either way, given the evidence we have that points toward either conclusion.

You think it's not possible that Hitler couldn't have been using it to manipulate the masses? People use religion for that sort of thing all the time anyway.

I'm not trying to disassociate myself from Hitler (being a Christian myself), and I'm not afraid to acknowledge that some people could very well use religion (and not just beliefs derived from mainstream Christianity either) to achieve their own ends with varying degrees of violence or that even Christians aren't exactly perfect and are capable of doing some bad things themselves. So even though I agree with the so-called "fundie", I will also say that Hitler did indeed utilize a system based on Christian beliefs that he warped to devastating effect.

I'm not saying Hitler was an atheist either. But I have had my fair share of people argue that Christianity was what made Hitler do what he did, when in fact people are asshats because they were asshats in the first place.

Ah heck, it'd be a lot easier if we were time-traveling spectral telepaths so we could judge for ourselves with our own senses. I know I would. Then the stupid on-going argument between people on this matter would largely end.

Hitler was a politician and a highly unstable man. Was he a Christian? Maybe, maybe not. Did he use it to manipulate the masses? Most certainly. Could this be because germans ever since the time of Martin Luther have hated jews so it was an easy stepping stone use the religion to convince the germans that wiping out the jews was a ok? Again, most certainly. So, whether or not Hitler was an atheist, christian, occultist, or scientologist is irrelevant because it was Christianity that paved his path to the top.

@ArchmageDB Have you seen some of the horrendous things that people claiming to be Christians say on here? Now don't get me wrong, atheists can be great people or douche bags just like anyone else but religion just makes hate so much easier and it was religion and (admittedly) political opportunity that allowed Hitler to kill so many people.
