State funding of artificial contraception in the form of condoms (which the left defends absolutely), is really funding AIDS. The Pope is right -- pushing the use of condoms spreads AIDS more effectively than anything yet tried.

If the left had any intellectual honesty or common sense, they'd have to admit that they are truly funding global AIDS and wasting loads money in their wrong-headed (but oh-so compassionate) effort to "cure" it. Just as there is a direct, organic link between artificial birth control and abortion (do the math -- birth control causes abortion), there is a direct link between the use condoms and the spread of AIDS. Since the US funds population control in African nations, it is funding AIDS.

Artic Knight: The anti-choice fundies believe that the birth control pill causes a fertilized, implanted egg (the medical definition of pregnancy) to be rejected by the body (thus, birth control causes abortion). It doesn't matter how many times you explain that the pill prevents ovulation, with a secondary level that prevents implantation; thus, the woman is never medically pregnant.

Which is why you can get stupid amendments like the one in Colorado where they're trying to give fertilized eggs the same rights as already born people. As far as these nutjobs are concerned, a fertilized egg IS a person.

Thank God I'm going through menopause. If this idiotic amendment had been passed when I was younger, I would currently be doing time for involuntary manslaughter, because I had five miscarriages over the years.

And as far as condoms spreading AIDS - well, condoms allow fucking with greatly reduced odds of either catching a disease or causing a pregnancy. Thus, they're evil, because all sex should have consequences - preferably a disease or pregnancy - otherwise, it's a sin.

Of course, it is from a site called Moonbattery ... why should we be surprised?

Except for telling people to just not have sex. While abstinence is 100% effective, it's not used all that often because (duh!) people want to have sex. You just can't control people's sexuality, even though you fundies always try.

And seat belts cause more automobile deaths to occur. Flu vaccines, obviously, also cause the virus to spread that much more quickly. And don't even get me started on how many people quality assurance inspections of food, drink and pharmaceuticals kills.

Condoms do not "cure" AIDS you imbecile. They sure as hell will cut down on the number of new cases, though.

Contraceptives cause abortion in the exact same way that abstienece does. You can't abort something that never occurs in the first place. Contraceptives either prevent fertilization, or implantation, both of which meaning it's no more abortion than a woman just not getting pregnant.

You are absolutely correct. It is proven that sex with condoms DRAMATICALLY reduces the spread of HIV. It stops the virus from reaching it's new host, which DOES NOT HAPPEN if you have unprotected sex. Seriously! A condom is a barrier. And enough with this conspiracy theory bullshit of "condoms are treated with HIV to kill off the __________s." If that was the case, I (who gets regular STD testing, for the record), and most other, intelligent people who do not fall for this sensationalist fear-mongering would be dead by now. You say condoms cause a rise in HIV infections? You wanna know what really does? People like you, who scare people off of viable protection, in hopes of scaring them off of sex.

Condoms and all forms of artificial contraception cause promiscuity.

Condoms fail, ergo a promiscuous person relying on a condom to prevent AIDS will contract AIDS.

Repeat fallacious logic to explain unwanted pregnancy.

What we have here is a classic delusional statistics failure anchored by a false premise. This can also be caused by ignoring data that does not support the prejudicial conclusion and/or pertains to those outside the contraceptive-using subset being discussed.

We all know that birth control, condoms, etc. actually increase abortion and aids because it makes people complacent about those things when they think they can avoid them. I say, we take it a step further, and apply this logic to other things. Helmets should be banned while riding motorcycles and bicycles, because it encourages risk-taking and accidents when people believe they are not at risk. The same goes for airbags and seatbelts in cars. Speeding is epidemic, and these safety devices only encourage death and destruction on the highway. Our roads are death fields, littered with the bodies of those who were lured into the false sense of security that the deathtraps known as modern cars provide. The only way to prevent this is to turn our cars into actual deathtraps (possibly laden with explosives).

So just say no to condoms and birth control, as well as various safety devices, and let God decide. In fact, I put so much trust in God that I removed my steering wheel. My car now goes where God wants it to go, and not where the lib-fascist-commie state wants it, thank you very much!

No, my confused friend: Pope Ratzi's claims are pretty fucktarded, but they're a bit more sophisticated than "condoms spread AIDS"; he basically claims that condoms provide a sense of absolute security, causing increased promiscuity which in turn means more opportunities for contamination through condom failure.

Of course, the whole thing falls apart as soon as you examinate it a bit seriously: history shows that fear of pregnancy or STD never managed to force everybody into strict monogamy or outright abstinence. Conversely, removing/reducing the fears and stigma about sex didn't turn every member of society into raging party-beasts. It takes a bit more than giving a box of condoms to an asexual monk to make him start screwing everything in sight like a swinger bunny on Viagra, and taking away a sex-addict's condoms will most likely lead him to (eventually) sacrifice safety rather than give up sex.

Anyway, every sane, competent expert or condoms-manufacturer will warn you that there is always a (slight) risk. The thing is, if you use the condoms properly that risk is (IIRC) a fraction of a percent. Most cases of condom-failure happen because of improper use; this is an issue of user error, not of flawed product: in computers terms, a classic case of PEBCAK. (note that an improperly used condom is still better/safer than no condom at all, and that not all condom failures result in automatic pregnancy/STD-infection. Sounds evident enough, but evidently for some panicky morons it isn't)

To sum this up, no condoms doesn't lead to no sex, and it is ignorance, stupidity and carelessness that spread AIDS, not condoms.

You do have hormones, right? "The Left" realize that young people are going to have sex whether they have contraception or not, and whether they are allowed or not. So the best action is to provide them with contraception.

The former Pope has probably killed thousands of people with that evil statement. People in Africa got scared of using condoms, so they had sex without condoms and spread the disease more effectively than "anything yet tried". And these are heterosexual, most of them. Instead of using condoms, they listen to old-folk remedies, like "having sex with a virgin will cure AIDS", which led to a lot of infant girls with AIDS. It's the Catholic Church that is funding AIDS.

We did the math, stupid. Birth control PREVENTS pregnancies and reduce the need for abortions significantly.
The direct link between use of condom and the spread of AIDS, is that the former reduces the latter.
