I just learned from Beastt yesterday that they arrive at this n-billion years by using the speed of light; and since I totally disagree with that, I contend that this universe is only 6100 years old

Wait, so he admits that the speed of light supports an old universe, YET DESPITE THAT he contends a young one. Is that like, knowingly choosing position that is CLEARLY CONTRADICTED by the evidence?
You can disagree with the currently accepted speed of light, but until you can prove (scientifically, rigorously, and REPEATABLY) that the current value is wrong, shut up.
Do they just make up a new number every other week now? Okay, boys, this week, the universe is going to be...oh, 6048 wins for the third time this year.
Wait, so he admits that the speed of light supports an old universe, YET DESPITE THAT he contends a young one. Is that like, knowingly choosing position that is CLEARLY CONTRADICTED by the evidence? Wanna hear something scary? I've known fundies who explicitly did just that.

Greg: No, Greg, it isn't "like" that, it is EXACTLY that.
His position is nothing less than a paraphrase of the assertion that if there is a contradiction between the Bible and reality, then reality is wrong.

And why not billions of years?. You all say that science is incapable of reaching an agreement, and you?. Should I remind you that up to the 18th century God created the world 4000 years ago, now 6000..........and counting?
The sad thing is, AV is able to hijack a thread with a single post. The OP just wanted to talk about the National Parks that won't display anything about the age of Grand Canyon, for example, because the US government intervened.
This guy is one of the worst trolls in time and should be ignored, instead many people will jump in for the cheap laugh and try to discuss with this clown. To no avail, of course.
One more thing, if I may.
Hey, AV1611VET, my bank says that I'm overdrawn, and since I totally disagree with that, will you cash this personal check for $10,000? Thanks. You're such a pal.
This guy contradicts himself. He states further down in the thread that he believes the speed of light has been constant since the time of Adam (which for him means the Creation). He correctly states the speed of light as 186,282 mps (2.99 x 108 for those of us who use metric), so he's aware of correct figures.
I guess he can't do the fucking math since he's too stupid to figure that his theory means the light of most stars would have yet to reach us if the universe was only 6100 years old.
It's worse than you think.
Vet's claim is that the earth indeed has an age of 4.5 billion years old, but is actually only 6100 years old. He contends that the earth was created 6100 years ago with the other 4 billion plus years "embedded" at creation to give it an old appearance.
Don't ask him to justify it. He'll just tell you that's the only way to reconcile the Bible with science, therefore it must be correct.
MK and Dark Geometer: Oh, I get it -- the god of the Bible is otherwise known as Loki, Coyote, Set, Hermes, or other variations of the Trickster deity. That Yahweh -- what a prankster!
