And you chose to abandon that
supernatural crutch. Its everyones choice.
You realize atheists do rely on current
circumstances for support but once
removed, their hope is gone. We're
speaking to self-professed atheists who
do not have significant employment, rely
on social services for medical, food, and
perhaps even their housing. The so-called "freedom thinker" and free from Gd
is actually a burden on society.

Let's see. I am an atheist free thinker, or "freedom thinker" as you put it and I am free from all gods. I guess you are right, I am a burden on society after spending over 20 years in the U.S. military protecting your freedoms, I am now a disabled veteran who relies on socialized health care (VA medical care) to take care of me. I'm sorry I'm such a burden to you, Masihi, maybe I should not have spent so much time protecting your freedom to spout such idiotic drivel and spent more time being selfish, building up riches and buying million dollar homes like so many preachers do.
You know what, Masihi, fo fuck yourself.
Shittiest verse EVER, and I've graded the poetry of illiterate Army recruits writing love poems to their girlfriends that included simile comparing fellatio and playing the clarinet.
So if an atheist is poor, that proves god exists, but if a theist is poor, that proves what?
Please prove with statistical samples that there are more atheists below the poverty line per capita then there are poor Christians. Hell, let's just go for the white trash subset of poor Christians. When you're all done not finding proof for your assinine statement, learn the difference between "its" and, "it's."
Desperation is not a good criterion for succumbing to superstitious nonsense, no matter how many people fall into that trap.
Since atheists in general are more highly educated than the average theist, it stands to reason that the average atheist is a well-paid professional (like me!) and that masihi is full of shit and bad, bad poetry.
Must be Backwards Day in the masihi residence in the trailer park, as he types away, face & 'wife-beater' stained with biscuits & gravy, waiting for his next welfare cheque.
...as this free-thinking Atheist types away, just returned from my workplace, safe in the knowledge that my salary has been paid into one of my two high-interest accounts at HSBC Bank today, and all my bills have/will be paid automatically by Direct Debit from such. And knowing that the tax I pay is going towards essential services, including the National Health Service here in the UK.
masihi, my father was an Atheist, my mother had a 'take it or leave it' attitude towards religion. He was a gas appliance fitter, later a meter reader for the Gas Board, my mother was in the WRAF; a cook at an RAF pilot training station in WWII, then a pub barmaid & a cleaner at a nearby school.
As soon as I left school, I went almost immediately into work - along with my sisters - bringing money into the home.
For a family of 'freedom thinking' left -wing Atheists/Agnostics at best, we never starved.

Well, if you remove everything we currently know I suppose that makes believing in superstition easier. However, atheism is simply a skeptical position so even if we knew absolutely nothing we'd still be justified in not believing your story.

Why are you so down on poor atheists? Didn't Jesus tell you that "the meek shall inherit the Earth"? And that "it is easier for a camel to enter the eye of the needle than for the rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven heaven"?

Actually, I consider the entitled rich to be more of a burden on society as they drain as much cash out of the system as they possibly can by using unethical business practices and paying off politicians to give them more tax breaks. Poor people simply need help in a system that has left them at the curb. Granted, there are SOME people who simply like to sit on their ass and collect benefits, but most of the poor are the WORKING poor who bust their ass for barely enough money to live on. But what would your messiah think of your attitude toward the poor? Honestly you're kind of lucky Christianity isn't real because I'd hate to be in your shoes if it was.
Of atheist Americans over 25, 60% earn more than the median income. 24% earn over $100,000, which puts them in the top 7% of earners. It may have something to do with the fact that atheists, unlike fundies, value things like rational thinking and education.
The so-called "freedom thinker" and free from Gd is actually a burden on society.
How are religious people any different? Does Gd pay for their unemployment benefits, Medicaid and Food Stamps?
Masihi... you do realise that Jesus commanded Christians to provide all that stuff you state is a burden on society? The only reason any burden on society exists is because Christians like you deliberately disobey Jesus AND work as hard as you can to stop anyone else from obeying Jesus.
Oh, and Masihi? You do realise that the vast majority of those relying of Social Security for food, medicine and housing... are CHRISTIANS!
To no greater extent than than individuals who beleive in a god or gods but do not have significant employment, rely on social services for medical, food, and perhaps even their housing are also burdens on society.
Surely you're not arguing that being an athiest predisposes one to unemployment or homelessness?
It's comments like this that make me think the modern Christian has just taken Christianity as traditionally practised and stood it on its head. There's a tradition of Christian mendicancy where you're SUPPOSED to rely on charity. It says it explicitly in the Bible.
So this person is ignoring their obligation to Christian charity, which must also apply to sinners and non-believers.
41 Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 He will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
People in need are not burdens on society, asshole, but representatives of Jesus, according to the Bible.
I'm a self-professed atheist who have a job that provide me with a good salary with which I buy my own food, and I pay for medical care with my taxes. My house is mostly the bank's, but that's more or less the norm, and I pay the mortgage on time each month.
Well hey, there are a few freethinkers who had some impact on our society (in no particular order or importance):
Albert Einstein
Robert Ingersoll (fought for women's rights and against slavery)
W.E.B. DuBois
Zora Neale Hurston
Elizabeth Cady Stanton
Asa Phillip Randolph
Robert Frost
Yip Harburg (wrote the music for Wizard of Oz)
Thomas Jefferson
Doug Adams (42!)
Brad Pitt
Larry Flynt (some of us are scumbags)
Charlie Chaplin
Robert Altman
Carl Sagan
George Carlin
And the only reason I'm stopping there is because I'm tired.
Confused?
