“(In response to someone pointing out that the U.S. isn't a theocracy.)
you want a gayocracy”
Well, if only gays have the vote, we’d have some FABULOUS legislation, wouldn’t we?
“This is a Democracy.”
Yes. But that doesn’t mean what you think.
“AND THE LARGE MAJORITY OF HER CITIZENS DON'T WANT GAY MARRIAGE. THE MAJORITY RULES, END OF STORY.”
And as he used to say, and now the rest of the story:
RIGHTS are not subject to popular vote. Otherwise, every year someone would be lacing the ballot with gun rights, interracial marriage rights, free speech rights, free religion, the whole bill of rights. Imagine if a president of religion Z fucked up royal, and the next year they voted on that religion’s right to be practiced.
If there is any secular reason that gays should be barred from enjoying the same rights we reserve for ourselves, publish away.
I think it’s just bigotry, though, so not terribly useful in law.
"GET OVER YOURSELF.”
You first.
“NEXT”
Oh, BTW, you lost, bigly.
