What, you think that because your problem-wriddled holy book lays down some basic foundations of morality, that anyone who doesn't believe in it is automatically immoral? Guess what, dumbass, morality shouldn't be based solely on the belief that if you do bad things, you go to Hell. Second, just because YOU lack the ethics not to murder people without the moral strictures of your religion does not mean that atheists such ethics. In the U.S., per capita, atheists commit far fewer crimes than Christians.

The first is a tautology, the second shows no correlation except to the extent that gays and women have been driven away from religion by bigotry, and the third depends on what you mean by "there are UFOs" - if you mean that there are objects which we haven't identified, obviously most atheists believe that (as do most theists) if you mean there are aliens out there somewhere, it's probably a more common belief among atheists than among theists (if it happened here, it could happen elsewhere too) but if you mean that aliens visit us, that belief is less common among atheists because atheists tend to be very skeptical of claims that don't have any supporting evidence.

Atheists PROBABLY don't believe in god? We MOST DEFINITELY don't believe in god. What amuses me more is that in the mind of a fundie, the lack of belief in a god usually equals to having sex with men. Now, this would be fine for the women among us, but why oh why do I necessarily have to be a homosexual if I'm an atheist? I really don't see the connection.
Unless I am mistaken, the god of the bible allows his followers to rape, murder (even on a genocidal level), enslave, discriminate, etc. and is still declared the source of all morality. Yet atheists tend to view all of these as immoral. On this basis I can state that atheists generally have a more developed sense of right and wrong than that stated in the bible. Given the choice of whom I (a deist) would put my trust in: a follower of the bible or an atheist I would choose the atheist every time.

More evidence that religious fundamentalism is a mental disorder. Fundies lack any sense of empathy with their fellow human beings. They believe that anyone who isn't fundy has the opposite values of fundies, but they don't want to ask since that means they might get contaminated with non-fundy ideas. It also cuts down on the empathy when you believe that all non-fundies are damned to eternal hell by their own choice. A very sick and dangerous mindset to have.

Again with the news-to-me expression on my face. I was totally ignorant of the requirement to believe in UFO's. Though I did see an object 'flying' in the sky yesterday and it was gone before I could get back with the binoculars so it went unidentified. So yes, unidentified flying objects DO exist! Phew! Survival rate increases if species work together, natural selection "sees" this and selects genes that are responsible for altruism. Instead of considering the consequences of an action and whether or not it would cause suffering, you consult only whether your favorite holy book and the authority you think exists would approve. You've probably seen airplanes or helicopters overhead. Unless you could name the type of aircraft and who the pilots were working for every time, you've seen a UFO. If it was at night, and you couldn't tell what type of aircraft it was because you could only see the lights, then it's even more of a UFO!

In that case, given the size of the universe, it's quite probable that there is some, but we'd have great difficulty finding out, and even if life did exist out there, we'd never be able to meet it given the impossibility of exceeding the speed of light.

I don't believe in UFOs and I think people that believe in UFOs are very silly. I do believe there is probably life on other planets but I don't believe that it has ever visited us, made crop circles, and abducted people.
We don't need a higher power to lay down the rules for us. That is the point! We can write the moral rules for ourselves based on the needs and wants of ALL people.

Btw, I have met Richard Dawkins once. No, he did NOT run around shooting everybodys brains out with a shotgun. He is a very civilized and pleasant man with good manners and subtle humor, and a lot of common sense.
