There is no injustice in what President Mugabe is doing. He is enforcing godly leadership on his people, just like King David did in Israel. Authoritarianism is of God.

"Being anti-American is not justification for anything." It is because everything America stands for is more or less evil. Capitalism? Based on the greed of evil men = Evil. Democracy? The church has always opposed it = Evil. Tolerance: let me quote the bible here: 2 Chronicles 15:13, Douay-Rheims: "And if any one, said he, seek not the Lord the God of Israel, let him die, whether little or great, man or woman." Tolerance is evil. Liberalism, here I shall quote saint Pius X: "Liberal Catholics are wolves in sheep's clothing, and the true priest is bound to unmask them"

I do not know if you belong to these wolves in sheep's clothing, heretic, but if you do it is the Church's duty to silence your evil tongue.

Anyway, liberalism is evil. Basically the entire US is evil and must be fought. And that's exactly what Mugabe is doing, waging a glorious crusade on capitalist western interests. God bless him!

Sorry zeth a religious combo of a theocratic tyranny mated with socialism would simply be a facist dictatorship under the auspices of the church. It would be a combination religious governmental secret police and inquisition state similar to brother Cromwell and his roundheads in England. See how well that worked. Our current US government may spend like its liberal forerunner but it is hardly liberal by any standards in its treatment of its average citizen with it's current welfare system for the rich and destruction of the middle class for benefit of the wealthy(look at how few people in the US are now covered by health insurance versus a mere 10 years ago). To call its attacks on personal liberties liberal would be totally absurd(only the parnoia of the Nixon administration may top it). Our "republican democracy" seems to have outlasted quite a few other governmental forms and may even be resilient enough to survive our current idiots in charge, and would appear far more "people friendly" than the absurd theocratic state socialist monarchy you seem to be suggesting.

Mugabe is not a model for Christians and is not CATHOLIC at all(not even that. He was brought up as protestant. The only contact with the Catholic church were the years he was taught in a marist school but, again, they accepted kids of all faiths). He has ruined the country because of his total lack of knowledge of how to distribute the wealth and, by the way, he's harrassing members of the church, so I highly doubt that the Vatican gives him his blessing. So, who's the heretic(because Mcnue is the Bishop that THE VATICAN appointed for Zimbabwe and, in case you're wondering, you're against the Vatican)?. And before you jump, if anything that it's not American is bad, what are you doing typing in a computer?, and why do you critisise China so much?

Let's put aside the fact that the relationship of Mugabe with the Church is on the total rocks, to say the most benign term. I would just point the following. Not only the economic, social and ideologic chaos is evident in the country, but also people are fleeing in numbers impossible to be counted. If he's doing what you think it should be done, the result is that he can't tyranise anymore, since there is no country to govern. There is no food, 80% of the people in the country can't work and take the country off the problem, etc.............
Now, if he was doing the right thing, people wouldn't flee. You can say that it's the fault of the others. Nice way to put the no True Scotchman fallacy. If the country goes well, he's a hero. If it doesn't, it's the fault of the others who, by the way, have developed a system that works. This way, you're using a circular reasoning. You say they're Christian because they don't allow others who are not Christian to live. People rebell because they can't live, it's their fault because they're not allowing the Christian model to exist.
Think about this, all those examples you invoke were:
a)displaced when they became obsolete
b)were a straight-foward failure(autocracy in Spain meant the ruin of the country and even with economic growth in the sixties, we were one of the least advanced countries in Europe)
To try again will simply not work. It didn't work once, when the conditions would enable a little success, it will certainly not work now.

Suecianus doesn't understand a very basic fact. Paraphrasing Jesus, governments and states were made for the people, not the people for them.
If a government fails at its duty of providing wellfare to its citizens, the goverment(Mugabe's in this case)has failed. People in Zimbabwe(and in the rest of the world, for that matter)want a decent job, food, clothes, lodging, ect.............not to comply to a certain religio-social ideal which is idealised by a bloody dictator and his acolithes, who are not poor precisely and live up with standars far different from the rest of the population, or a Swedish teenager who has never treaded their country, has no responsabilities whatsoever, and lives, fantastically, by the way, in the country which is the total opposite of the political spectrum. Not only that, but also the fact that he has no intention whatsoever of changing the statu quo.
Blaming other countries, which are not one tenth as problematic as Zimbabwe, for its failure is utterly false at best, totally pernicious for the guys who are suffering at worst. Mugabe is wholly to blame for the situation, because authoritarism has that disadvantage. When you're in total control of the situation, to the point of not allowing external interference, you can account for the success, if there is, but, above all, you have to account for the whole blame if there is failure(as in this case).
This is not Hannah Montana. You can't have the best of both worlds so that, if things go ok, you are the sole artificer of the miracle. If things go sour, others are totally to blame.
Mugabe is making faked elections, as you have wondered more than once, because just as Sadam Hussein did, his regime doesn't work. He has to make people believe that his people want him and hide under that, after the monumental and colossal failure that his government has been.
If he's ousted from power, nobody will miss him, in the same way that very few people miss your beloved Franco, Pinochet, Sadam Hussein and Salazar. Nobody has "betrayed" them, nobody has conspirated. They just don't accept that people didn't support them as much as they thought.
