Contrary to what many Christians have been led to believe, there is no such thing as a 'neutral' education. All education is religious and conveys a worldview, and there is no more important decision that we make as parents than how we educate our children. Unfortunately, Christian parents allow an aggressively anti-Christian institution to form the minds of their children, and the fruit of that choice is bitter. The overwhelming majority of children from evangelical families leave the church within two years after they graduate from high school; only 9 percent of evangelical teens believe that there is any such thing as absolute moral truth; and, our children are being forcibly indoctrinated to believe that homosexual behavior is acceptable.

"Learning and education are from the devil, the only true way to god is thru mindless obedience. If you dare question what we tell you, it's the lake of fire for you."
9% is still too many fundy kids that will grow up to be fundy adults, and brood even more fundy kids.
There is no neutral education............ok, find me an example of Christian algebra, Christian Spanish or Christian PE, to name a few, and we'll talk.
So, here's your argument in a nutshell:
1. All education conveys a worldview
2. A secular (not by any means anti-Christian) worldview which makes no mention of religion runs counter to certain tenets of your faith.
3. Lots of more educated people are leaving your church in droves.
My conclusion is that...your religious beliefs are not based in fact, and therefore are bullshit.
"All education is religious and conveys a worldview"
What if your teacher is atheist or agnostic? Worldview, certainly, but not religious.
"our children are being forcibly indoctrinated to believe that homosexual behavior is acceptable"
If it's between consenting adults in private then it is acceptable. It's nothing to do with you , so mind your own fucking business.
So, then, people start leaving your cult once they gots them a little edumacation? More honest than you intended to be, weren't you?
Gee. Choosing between evangelism and reality, kids gravitate toward reality. Just goes to show how resilient the true human conscience can be.
Kinda restores my faith in human nature.
"only 9 percent of evangelical teens believe that there is any such thing as absolute moral truth"
Not in any poll i've ever read. The USA is more fundie now than at any time in the last 100 years. And the fundies are worried that it's not fundie enough!
our children are being forcibly indoctrinated to believe that homosexual behavior is acceptable.
The nerve of them! You'd think they'd remember what happened when they forcibly indoctrinated children that it was okay to be black!
All education is religious and conveys a worldview
"Yea, we today shalt read from the second book of Calculus, Authorised Edition. And Reason lay with Numeracy, and they begat a son, and they named him Differential With Respect To X, and they saw that he was good and strong. And lo, he went out, and every fair function he met he subdued, and broke down until there was nothing. And there was much rejoicing, and Differential grew in his pride and confidence. But the evil one brought Sin into the world, and she ensnared Differential with her beguiling curves without end, and he lay with her entranced, but could not break her down. For Sin had a twin sister, Cosin, and every time after he lay with the one, the other would take her place, so that the one he lay with was ever renewed, and unsatisfied. Thus was Differential entrapped, for ever."
Oh no! Free thinking by adults who would rather make up their own minds than blindly follow the faith forced upon them! Oh, the horror!
I hate to tell you this, Bruce, but that's a good thing. That's why, when my daughter is old enough, I'm going to let her go to church if she wants to go. Her father and I don't go, but she has the right to check it out and make up her own mind (though I'm going to watch her closely for signs of Fundie brainwashing, just in case). If she wants to become Christian, so be it. So long as she treats people the way *true* Christians should (that is, with love and respect and as equals).
She's *also* going to learn that tolerance you all yell about but never display. Her God father is a homosexual male, and sees her every week. And a good number of our friends are from diverse backgrounds and of different races. And I'm SO GLAD she'll have that opportunity. If more Fundie kids had it, maybe they'd convert sooner, and in greater numbers.
The differential of the sine may seem innocuous to you, but read it backwards and you get the integral of the sine, which, contrary to the clear word of the Holy Bible, indicates the value of pi to be 3.1415...
That's 'em sneaky secularists to you!
Could it be because they don't want to submit to unnecessary doctrin and antic world view?
Even if you'd home school your children or send them to stricktly Baptist Schools, they most likely would want to escape the dark ages where men can not control their urges and women are doormats!
Someone call the WAAAHmbulence.
If parent's want a religious education or religion taught to their kids; teach it themselves, homeschool, or send them to a Christian school. You cannot, and should never be allowed, to change school curriculum simply because it doesn't fit with your particular religious views.
OH NOES! BATTEN DOWN THEM THAR HATCHES! GRAB THE CHICKENS, MAW!
...wait, that's supposed to be a bad thing? Dammit, you had me all worked up there!
"only 9 percent of evangelical teens believe that there is any such thing as absolute moral truth;"
Absolute moral truth?
Such as murder is wrong... unless he's gay, or of a different religion, or my religious leader who obviously speaks for god says it's okay.
Such as rape is wrong... if you're the victim.
Such as slavery is wrong... if they follow the same religion as you.
Edit: (forgot one)
Such as lying is wrong... except when it helps promote your own religion (everyone at the discovery institute, I'm looking at you).
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
