Q u o t e:
I should remind you that the onus is on you to prove your claim, not us to prove you wrong. I wouldn't go into a scientific community and make the claim that invisible unicorns fly out of my ass, then yell at them to prove me wrong.
my faith is my proof. it is sciences job to find evidence against my faith, and throught mans existance no one has been able bring forth 100% proof that god does not exist. so yes it is your job to proove me wrong because my proof is faith based.

"my faith is my proof."
WRONG. Faith may "prove" something to you, but it doesn't prove anything to anybody else. I could believe, firmly and beyond the shadow of a doubt, that there is a T-Rex living in the local park. However, I'm sure you would insist that I prove that there was a T-Rex, no matter how vehemently I insisted that you must prove that there isn't.
The burden of proof always goes this way: "I believe that X exists/is true." "Well, I don't, so you'll have to prove it to me." If there is evidence for X at all, the first person will always have the easier time proving his position. Faith is not proof. Faith is simply another word for a firm belief in something.
(Just for the record: Dinosaurs are extinct. I firmly believe that there are none left, and unless I actually encounter a live dinosaur, in the flesh, I will continue to believe this. This is a hypothetical example, so don't try to hold this one against me.)
"my faith is my proof."
Not quite. At least not as far as anyone existing outside of your mind is concerned.
"it is sciences job to find evidence against my faith,"
It most certainly is not. You say it's true--prove it.
"and throught mans existance no one has been able bring forth 100% proof that god does not exist."
Nothing is ever proven 100%. Aside from that, yet again, we do not have to disprove your claim; you have to show it's true.
"so yes it is your job to proove me wrong because my proof is faith based."
Please tell me that law isn't going to be your future profession.
Your faith is proof of superstition. Superstition is proof of non-knowledge. Ergo, your alleged "knowledge" of God's existence is based on non-knowledge. You are delusional.
Faith = Belief Without Proof.
Your sentence evaluates to: "My belief without proof is my proof."
YOU FAIL
Au contraire! George Carlin proved it by declaring "If I'm lying, may God strike me dead!"
And if it took your God 50 years after he said that....
Yeah, I can say "I have faith the stock market is going to jump straight through the roof, inflation will fall, the deficit will be fixed and high-paying manufacturing jobs will start pouring back into America by this time next week", but no one would take that word as gold because there's NO PROOF IT WILL HAPPEN.
Just like, as there's no proof there is a God, its ridiculous to take blind FAITH in God as the bearer of truth.
Oh really? Well we'll see what dictionary.com has to say about that...
"Faith noun
1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability.
2. belief that is not based on proof.
3. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion: the firm faith of the Pilgrims."
The burden of proof:
It is the responsibility of he advancing the claim to provide evidence.
The Brooklyn of proof:
Ya made widz da claim, now make widz da proof!
The Buddha of proof:
The claim emerges from within, it shall draw out evidence.
The bourbon of proof:
Best with a dash of evidential ginger ale.
"I wouldn't go into a scientific community and make the claim that invisible unicorns fly out of my ass, then yell at them to prove me wrong."
And yet that is EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE DOING
"so yes it is your job to proove me wrong because my proof is faith based."
And you sound like my math teacher.
prUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUu me wrong! ...
ohay?
anonymous: The part about invisible unicorns is quoted from a previous post. The part starting "My faith is my proof" is Riotos's idiotic rebuttal.
I do agree that this should have been made more clear by worldsend.
Here's the deal. You use your faith and nothing from science. We'll use what science offers and refuse everything that your god offers.
It all hinges on what works. Nobody gives a flaming rat's ass what you believe.
" it is sciences job to find evidence against my faith,"
It is your faiths job to find evidence against my faith in the invisible pink unicorn.
Lack of evidence for something can not be used as evidence that it is false. Scientists can not prove that God does not exists, but neither can you prove that he does, so y'all should just stop arguing.
EDIT proof that god does not exist
1) The only God worth believing in is a God that cares about all human beings.
2) According to Christian tradition God is all powerful and all knowing.
3) A god that cares for all people would not have let something like the Holocaust or the crusades happen.
QED: Either
1) God does not exist.
OR
2) God does not care about human beings.
The thing I don't understand is why you, Riotos, a homosexual man, would want to follow a God who is so bigoted against your kind of people anyway.
(my faith says you're gay)
THE FAIL.
IT BURNS.
*screeches*
one can't disprove an irrational belief, since there can be NO evidence of a supernatural entity (unless it chooses to manifest): there can be no proof.
But why am I telling you all this: you know it!!
To go back to an old thing I used to reference:
I suppose that there is a giant dragon who created the universe and is also the physical embodiment of the universe who created lifeforms by having sex with an ethereal tree.
PROVE ME WRONG.
As a Christian I have to ask... why in the name of Atala are they arguing about religion and spirituality on the WoW forums?
I was under the impression that discussing religion and spirituality was against both the forum rules and the game rules, even if the forum they're discussing it on happens to be the General Discussion forum.
sure..and no one has been able to bring forth 100% proof that all of the other gods and goddesses dont exist either...
-except-
If I dont have pie on my face isnt that proof that I dont have pie on my face? But hay, maybe I have an invisible, intangible pie on my face right now and I dont know it!
Strange how invisible and imaginary look exactly alike.
You know, scientists have never intended to step into your churchs and shake up your beliefs, they just expect the same from you lot. Keep your religion(s) out of the schools, goverments and sciences.
And,We don't believe he doesn't exist because there is NO PROOF.
Of course God DOES exist, and Science has this evidence to prove it:
1) All the text messages from Heaven, saying its great there.
2) The way the lottery is only won by Christians in need who pray to God.
3) The way Christian amputees are healed by God.
4) The way Jesus returned in the First century as He promised.
5) The way people praying saves the lives of thousands of people by averting natural catastrophes like tsunamis, and earthquakes and cyclones.
6) The way the sky is a solid hemisphere ("firmament", firm as in a pot lid) with water above it that leaks through as rain, mounted on pillars on top of the Earth that itself stands on pillars, as detailed in the Bible.
With all that for evidence, how can anyone doubt that Science has proven God does exist?
"it is sciences job to find evidence against my faith,..."
- Science doesn't care about your faith. What is important to science is what can be substantiated with sensible evidence. As your faith, by definition, is not grounded in sensible phenomenon, it is irrelevant to science.
Unless, of course, you think that there is sensible evidence to support your faith. If so, we'd like to see it. Or would that be too much like assuming the burden of proof for you?
Confused?
