A citadel is merely a fortress protecting a town, derived from the Latin word "civis", from which citizen and city come.

There never was any attempt to place a mosque *on* the site of the World Trade towers, though a Muslim prayer room existed in the towers before 9/11, as well as a "storefront" small mosque within a short walking distance from the towers. Plus, the President never voiced any opinions on any of these.

3-Neither he nor anyone else ever suggested placing a mosque on Ground Zero. The dispute was over a Muslim community center that was already in existence, two blocks away from Ground Zero. The center welcomes all but did/does contain a mosque, and also contained a Christian chapel. I highly doubt that he ever knew or gave a shit about the naming of the place.

Community centre? Really? Everyone knows that the main idea of the building would have been the worship of Allah and the indoctrination of young people into the faith.
Don't get me wrong. I would feel the same way about a church being built anywhere near the numerous atrocities committed by Christians in this country. A church or mosque being built anywhere for that matter. However, I don't for a second minimize the very real threat that Islam poses to western civilization. It is a part of their faith and a goal of their most devout adherents to spread their ideology by the sword. Their ideology is a threat that far to many on America's left, which I am a part of, downplay or fail to acknowledge at all in the name of diversity or multiculturalism. I don't see them all in the same way but their thinking is dangerous whether they are overt extremists or not.
