The Democratic party used to be home to the vast majority of Catholic voters.
2004 was the first time that a Republican (Bush), against Kerry (nominal Catholic) got the majority of the Catholic vote.
Atheists and anti-Christian bigots now dominate the Democratic Party. They say they aren't religous but public schools are their temples used to indoctrinate children via their secularist, anti-Christian views.
America has had a long Judeo-Christian tradition. What is the cause of the big backlash against it?
Why is the Democratic party willing to lose Christian voters like it has in the last 30 years, especially of late?
How did the Democratic party become hostage to atheists and anti-Christian bigots?

I doubt you've even been to a public school.
"The Democratic party used to be home to the vast majority of Catholic voters."
Citation needed. I'm not saying that you are wrong, but I need to see evidence to back this up.

Wah-wah-wahhhhh. In Europe even the "far-right" parties are more secular than the Dems.
"America has had a long Judeo-Christian tradition. What is the cause of the big backlash against it?"
1. Wrong.
2. There is no backlash against moderate Christians, you paranoid kook. It's just wackos like you, and your actions hurt yourselves and your own reputations more than any atheist conspiracy ever could.
"anti-Christian bigots"
Sigh...LOSE. Take your persecution complex, and go home.

One utterfail wasn't enough, was it?
anti-Christian bigots
You don't think it's a good thing to be opposed to Christian bigots? Many Christians are.

Funny, now I have a pain in my temples.

Go look in a mirror.
In 1980 and 1984, Ronald Reagan won in the heavily Catholic New England states, New York, and New Jersey, although Jimmy Carter won Rhode Island in 1980. You fail Poli Sci.

In Norway, we have one Christian party. Out of, I don't know, 10 parties that anybody actually vote for. About 5% or so vote for the Christian party. They're a bit wacky, but they're nowhere near being far-right. In Norway, they are in the middle, which would make them crazy commies in the US ;p
What has religion got to do with politics?
May I suggest that politics, that is Democracy, have been hijacked by religion - Christian religion.
A first step on the road to Theocracy.
The Democratic party also used to be home to the vast majority of Fundamentalist Christian voters.
They were called "Southern Democrats ." They officially ran on the Democratic Party ticket, but their politics were more right-wing than many Republicans of the time. They did this because the Republican Party was still considered the Party Of Lincoln -- the party that ended their slavery tradition, launched the Civil War against them, and brutally oppressed them during Reconstruction.
It's only in the late 20th century -- partly as a backlash to the Civil Rights Movement -- that these Southern folks warmed to the Republican party and turned it into the Party of the Religious Right.
@ wombat: My parents, grandparents, and neighbors always voted Democrat "'Cause Jack Kennedy was a Demecrat and he was a Catholic you know..." This time around, they have a real good reason for it.
You call us secularists like it's an insult. Why not just call us Patriots in an attempt to hurt our feelings.
Fundie dictionary entry of the day:
An-ti-Christ-ian (adj) -Anything that thwarts any part of the fascist revolution of the christo-nazis. She disagreed with me when I said all those of other faiths should be put to death as per Exodus 22:19, therefore she was an anti-christian bigot.
No, the Democratic party used to be home for Baptist rednecks, until LBJ [following JFK's initiative] signed off on full civil rights for Americans of African descent. Thus did the Baptist rednecks all start voting Republican.
Confused?
