Why are many of my fellow atheists supporting mass media indoctrination and intimidation?
Out of all people, my fellow atheists should be supporting free thought. Instead, they are supporting mass media indoctrination and intimidation

1. TV shows such as the "new normal" are CLEARLY produced for the sake of indoctrinating the masses to be more accepting of homosexual behavior

2. Not one tv show has ever been promoted for the sake of indoctrinating the masses to downplay homosexual behavior

3. People are literally afraid to say they oppose gay marriage because they are afraid of being insulted and intimidated. Study shows polls are not acccurate for that reason in regards to gay marriage.

4. Young people are CLEARLY not using their own minds and doing what celebrities tell them to do regarding gay marriage.

5. Older people are less likely to be moved by celebrities and use their own minds. That's why more older people oppose gay marriage.

the gay movement is out spending traditional marriage advocates 4 to 1 and they're STILL having a hard time. The gay movement even have support from celebrites and they're STILL having it hard

Face it, the gay movement is literally INDOCTRINATING the masses to accept homosexuality

1. Modern TV shows are CLEARLY produced for the sake of indoctrinating the masses to be more accepting of married couples sleeping in the same bed.

2. Not one TV show has ever been promoted for the sake of indoctrinating the masses to discourage married couples from sleeping in the same bed. (Wow, there's a lot of unnecessary words in that sentence.)

Additional Details: The opposite theory, that progressive voices in the media and elsewhere are trying to counteract millennia of religious indoctrination about the nature of homosexuality, is CLEARLY ridiculous, because of reasons. One's current beliefs are always natural, and opposing beliefs are ALWAYS the result of mass-media indoctrination by nefarious forces that want to steal our precious bodily fluids.

As a rule, TV stations will show what people want to see, because that is how they make money. No indoctrination necessary, just good old capitalism.

Yeah, if they have opinions different from yours, they clearly are indoctrinated, because your opinion clearly is the only valid one.

But you can only know that from the polls, and you already told us that polls about SSM could not be trusted in point no. 3!

I also noticed that at no point in your post you mentioned why SSM would be a bad idea.

--Wouldn't that be pretty much the majority of shows since the beginning of TV, which have generally pretended that homosexuals don't exist? Or, on the occasion that they are acknowledged, they're either a joke or an example of perversion...or sometimes, as jack-off fodder for straight guys who like to watch women making out. An itty-bitty increase in the percentage of shows that do otherwise is just balancing the scales, not "indoctrination".

--Yup,and that's why my grandmother was uneasy about my sister dating a "coloured boy" and why older people in general are more likely to stick with the social values of an earlier era. Because they don't listen to celebrities and use their own minds. You've cracked the code, Atheist.

@Papabear - Yes indeed. Atheism is just a lack of belief in a "god". It doesn't state anything else about the person. Being an atheist doesn't imply the person is also politically or socially progressive, intelligent, a critical thinker or a good person. I've met many atheists who are hardcore racists, sexists, right-wing ideologues (like Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman) or lowdown, immoral sons of bitches. Why not homophobic too? Though homophobia is often correlated with religion the religion is usually just an excuse to justify a feeling that's already there. Most people who are homophobic are homophobic because they think gayness is "icky". It really is that childish. The religious excuses to oppose it are just trying to make it sound less childish and more justified/reasonable.

The stereotype that atheists are all godless radical liberals/socialists/communist intellectuals with a college degree is just that - a stereotype. Invented by right-wing populists. A lot of atheist activists are quick to point out that being an atheist is just a lack of a belief in god and nothing more. They should remember that too when they're tempted to assume an atheist is automatically an anti-racist gay-friendly liberal.
