Homophobes do not think of gays as people. They view them purely in sexual terms. This gives them the excuse to revel in how 'disgusting' gays are. Sex of any kind can be a pleasurable, but 'messy' business sometime. However, the homophobe does not think of it in those terms with straights because so often it involves him/her personally. Likewise, the closet case, seeking to distance his/her precious self from their true nature (as a protection mechanism), will equally focus on the 'messy' element. It's quite pathetic, really.

First you explain the role religion has carried in reproduction, specifically Christianity.
Marriage, sex and reproduction can be proven to preceed the Bible by at least 3000 years, the last two are a given and go back to our beginings. our historically unrecorded but obvious past
By this definition, all sexual acts could be classified as a fetish. With that in mind, only a very small percentage will result in a fertilized egg, and an even smaller percentage will result in a live birth.
With that in mind, why single any one of them out as being counter to evolution?

Thanks for the visual. Actually there are a number of genetic reasons that could result in homosexuality. XXY Kleinfelter (spelling?) syndrome. Or maybe the same genetic code that makes a woman more "maternal" will also make a man more "womanly" and thus attracted to other men, or vice versa. It isn't as simple as 'this gene makes you gay or straight' especially since there are also varying degrees of bisexuality.

there are actually evolutionary theories for homosexuality. something like say it was originally a display of dominance or a means of engaging in pleasure. female bonobos engage in "lesbian" genital rubbing and grin and squeal, apparently out of pleasure. i haven't read much on the theories for homosexuality, but i'd hazard a guess that it may even have some sort of advantage on a population-wide scale in the same manner in which red and green color blindness seem to be advantageous among populations (certain New World monkeys have color blind members of the population which may actually allow them to see fruit that color visioned animals might miss, which on the scale of troops, makes the entire troop more fit).
