Police in south-east Nigeria have arrested a man who claimed to have killed 110 child "witches".
"Bishop" Sunday Ulup-Aya told a documentary film team he "delivered" children from demonic possession.
But after his arrest, he reportedly told the police he had only killed the "witches" inside, not the children.

Well, I guess I can't play any Touhou games since you've killed Marisa.
Bastard.
Also, I'm quite amazed that the police are doing anything. In some of these stories the local authorities are equally fucktarded.
"Self-proclaimed "pastors" extort money from families to exorcise the children, but none has been charged until now."
Charged! They should have an exorsism performed on them, just like the one below..
"Exorcism victims seen by CRARN in the past include a child who had nails driven into her head."
I read the article, and although it is batshit crazy, it sounds like he might not have actually killed the children. The only evidence they have is him saying it on tape, but he claims it was meant metaphorically to mean the witches inside them, and not the children themselves. But, the article does state it's not unusual for children to be hurt or killed out of fear for being a witch, so who's to say if he did or didn't murder the children.
Either way, it's ludicrous.
Yeah, pity that your method of killing the demons has the unfortunate but unavoidable side-effect of killing the bodies they inhabit. Exorcism isn't the smartest hobby I know of, but at least most exorcists don't kill the people they're trying to "save."
One of the Nigerian children killed by Ulup-Aya died without leaving any next of kin. We have discovered a balance in his bank account of $15,500,000 (fifteen million five hundred thousand United States dollars), which will be locked there unless we can transfer it through an offshore account. If you will let us transfer the money through your bank account, we will let you keep 10% as a processing fee. Please send your name and address to the e-mail address below.

And soon, they'll do the same to you!
When somebody starts seeing demons in children, you've got a problem, and boy, it's not the children.
From reading this, they have no evidence he killed the children except he said so, but then he went back and explained that he meant the witches inside. So basically, it is his word against his word, in which case, I am saying that unless we are working off of guilty till proven innocent, he shouldn't be charged with murder. Find a dead child, or even a child who was abused by him, and get him, but don't say "Well, he said he was guilty, so not it is up to him to prove he isn't." If I say I killed a child named Bob, for what ever reason, when Bob doesn't actually exist, how am I supposed to prove I didn't kill Bob? We prove guilt, not innocence.

Oh wait...too soon?
True or not, this proves what happens when superstition is allowed to run rampant. And why fundy Xtianity is flourishing there (especially when it's US sponsors know they've lost in Europe). Just as the tobacco companies have to push their product in the Third World, as they've lost markets in the West.
And you wonder why so many kids in Africa are wanting a decent education? And not only because they want to leave such poverty.
I'm happy to see Nigeria standing up to this bullshit. I really want to adopt one of these "witch children".
As for his recanting, typical fundie bullshit. They're so brave and tough in front of their congregation. This guy's proud of killing children when he talks to his followers. But every fundie leader turns into a snivelling cowering bitch when the authorities get involved.
So, where are the still-living children? Can this so-called bishop tell us where they are so they can be returned to their families?
No? Rot in jail, child murderer.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
