The crisis question is whether the Koran is an evil book, or the Koran has been misinterpreted by evil people. If the Koran is an evil book, then the Islamic religion needs to be wiped from the face of the earth. If the Koran has been misinterpreted by evil people, then the evil people need to be wiped from the face of the earth.

Read the story of Israel's wars in Deuteronomy, Joshua, and Judges, and tell me that the Bible is NOT evil.
I actually agree with him to a certain extent. People who pervert religion for their own gain should indeed be removed from power. I'm not big on the death penalty, so I'd say thrown in prison rather than "wiped from the face of the earth", but the end result is similar.

clirus says that no valid religion should ever advocage killing, etc., yet he says that all the evil people who misinterpret the koran should be 'wiped from the face of the earth'. Interesting look into the christian psyche. Also, he should take a good look at the history of christianity. Crusades, Inquisitions, anti-Semitism, and today, the wars on practically everything, done by christians, to those who oppose them. Now, I've read the koran, and I see no real difference (fundamentally, not theologically) between it and the bible. So, I guess, in clirus' words, that it is 'evil' people who have misinterpreted the koran. But you have to remember, a vast majority of muslims cannot even read, they only know what their clerics tell them. So there's another factor involved. Regardless, it's clirus' ironic self-contradiction that I find most funny.

If any fundie ever truly read their Bible - as in from cover to cover - and fully understood the implications of all the Old Testament & parts of the New Testament, then they'd really understand what Isaac Asimov meant when he once said:
'Properly read, the Bible is the most potent force for Atheism ever conceived'

One of the huge underlying misconceptions of modern American religion: That acceptance of other religions, the non religious and their equality and rights is a Christian concept. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The Constitution and bill of Rights forced laws upon the churchs to accept this, the churchs were quite ready to build up and crush competition or religious freedoms, the fundie element still demands a forced theocracy.
Tolerance and freedom have nothing to do with Christianity until secular laws put them in their place.
