How many herein have been told by intellectual yet spiritually dim witted professors, that “no science minded person could ever believe what scripture states concerning Jesus Christ”? How many atheist and, agnostics, other skeptics, scoffers and doubters alike have opened their eyes to the fact that the media is biased, politically and otherwise? How many atheists, agnostics, other skeptics, scoffers and doubters have taken the time to do some serious research since they originally made up their mind not to believe?
Don’t those who rely so heavily on man’s finite wisdom and understanding realize that that understanding evolves?

No, the Christian cannot currently prove to the nonbeliever that God exists, no more than a person can prove the beauty of a sunset, or a rainbow to a blind person. One can personally enjoy that beauty though. They can also bask in the warmth and beauty with another who sees. Does the blind person deny that beauty and warmth? Though they can feel the warmth, do they deny the existence of the beauty?

I have! Guess what, all the evidence supports my viewpoint!
Nobody can´t prove that God exists(or that it doesn´t exist either, for that matter)or that Jesus is his son. What you can do is believing it without harrassing the others and, for that matter, behaving EXACTLY as Jesus told you to. Not harrassing, I insist, but feeding the poor, not judging, helping...........
oh sure, you christians will take credit for all the beauty in the world and say "look at the glory of god" but what about all of the war, disease, starvation and greed, do you take responsibility for that, NO!!! if you see the orange glow of a sunset, you say, look at the beauty of god's creation, but if you see the orange glow of a fire as a result of a bomb strike, you say it was the non-believers fault, even though the person responsible for the attack was a christian (bush).
So think about it, if you say that all the beauty in the world proves god's existance, just look at reality, by your logic, you just disproved the thing you were trying to prove, nice going
To a blind person, the existence of rainbows doesn't present any contradictions, and they have evidence that people actually have the ability to see, even if they can't. I don't have any evidence that your perception of God is real and not a delusion.
Quit slandering professors. Yes, even the liberal "PC" ones. Just stop it. No prof of mine ever mentioned Jesus outside of a class on philosophy, religion, or history unless some bullheaded student broached the subject for the sole purpose of being confrontational.
All things dull and ugly,
All creatures short and squat,
All things vile and poisonous,
The Lord God made the lot.
It's telling that you chose two things that are visual illusions to compare God with. The sun doesn't really turn red when it disappear "around the corner", it's the particles in the atmosphere that makes it look red. A rainbow is just a projection of light through a raindrop or a mist, it doesn't really exist at all.
Sure, it might feel comfortable to imagine a father-figure sitting on a cloud, but that doesn't make it more real. The image of Santa Claus going round the world to give all children presents is rather comforting too, but we all know that millions of kids (in Christmas-celebrating countries) don't get any Christmas presents.
Most atheists were once believers, but have done that serious research that you talk about, and came to the conclusion that it's highly unlikely that there are any deities governing our lives. For me it was gradual, I never made up my mind not to believe, it just made less and less sense. I actually experienced a feeling of loss when I realized that there probably isn't any heaven where we can meet our loved ones afterwards.
Yes! A fundie who admits that our understanding of the world is imperfect and changes as new observations are made. Please go explain this to your friends. It's really aggravating to deal with those fundies who claim that because the currently accepted ideas of science change, or because there are some things we can't yet explain, science as a whole is worthless and inferior to the Bible, which doesn't change.
My experience was similar to Swede's, gradually believing less over time. When you request plausible evidence, including through prayer and it doesn't happen, it's not because Satan is blinding you, that too, is only a justification. Especially when your eyes open to so much evidence about our actual origins and your mind eventually understands how natural processes work. Then how human traditions and religions also form. Does it mean that the laws of physics were not created in a way to make it all possible? But how can one justify that? If it was true, how does it justify acting like if we were constantly being observed by an invisible being? How does it justify that this hypothetical being is the god of your particular tradition? Because you do reject other deities, too.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
