Christians avoid "prosecution" only because stupidity is not yet a crime.

PROTIP: Not only is this character - who is immortal , via the 'Code' given to him - voiced by the Seiyuu God Norio Wakamoto ('ALL HAIL BRITANNIA!'), Emperor Charles - in the anime - doesn't just possess a 'Geass' (or 'ability') that can mindrape victims & implant a completely new personality & memories, but he also has the 'Sword of Akasha': a weapon that can destroy Gods.

Not necessarily ignorant and not always stupid, but all too often wilfully ignorant.
Just because we have a description of a natural process (evolution) does not mean we want to push it down anyone throat (eugenism) or even apply it by exteeeerminaaaaaating all unfit humans.
You might also learn that as social animals, it is in our best interest to care about the weak, just in case they would bear some deviant DNA structure that would be usefull later for specie survival (example : surviving some big ass flu)
