If a person doesn't know his God-given purpose he is living an empty existence and has not experienced true life

If u don't know ur God-given purpose you are living an aimless life without direction because u don't why u are on the planet. Ur life will be extremely empty if all you are living for is urself. They say if you aim nowhere you are guaranteed to get there, i.e. nowhere. If anyone believes in Evolution their life has no purpose because according to it "we are all simply one big cosmic accident

It's so much better existing for the sole purpose of telling God how great his is and sucking his cock.
In fact, I think I'm going to tell everyone I know how I can put some purpose in their lives. I'm so charitable, I'll even let them kiss my ass.
...we'll see how that turns out.
My life is quite happy and full, thanks, worshiping an imaginary sky pixie would just take time away from doing the things I enjoy.
And knowing that my existence was not pre-ordained makes me feel incredibly lucky to be here. I don't need to have a purpose handed to me on a platter because I am perfectly happy to find my own purpose, one that suits me and my likes and dislikes.
How does Chris know his "God-given purpose"? Did God come down and talk to him?
People always rationalize their condition by saying "it's part of God's plan for me". You get fired, "it's part of God's plan for me". Your transmission dies in the middle of the Seven Mile Bridge, "it's part of God's plan for me". You flunk out of college, "it's part of God's plan for me". Yeah, like Chris is that damn important ...
Life isn't merely a means to an end.
And anyone who spells "your" as "ur" has nothing of value to say, anyway.
Well, you're wrong. I don't have a fucking clue what my purpose here on this planet is, or even if I have one, and I certainly ain't empty space. Ask my husband, my mother, my siblings, my friends, my employer, my neighbors, my grandparents.
If there is a specific reason I figure I'll know it when it happens. If it's all an accident, then living my life, loving my family and friends and being loved in return is good enough for me.
You could say that at if anyone believes in fundy-God their life has no purpose because it's just a mistake, a prelude to a much much longer life. Certainly the fundies at RR don't consider this life to have any import, they're waiting eagerly for theirs to end!
God-given purpose? You mean converting to your religion, trying to convert other people to your religion, and then rotting away until you finally die and can spend the duration of eternity rubbing Jesus's back? Obviously, you haven't experienced life without joining your religion and longing for death.
Oh, how the ignorant and mediocre try to justify their existence with conceits of purpose!
I thought it was impossible to know God's purpose and plans for you.
Well, the bible certainly isn't much help. It's got a long list of things you're not supposed to do, but doesn't really give even a hint as to any specific life purpose. As a general rule, I find religions only ever tell you how to live, not why. And they never give a good reason why you should live their way anyway.
Uh, no. I don't need to believe I was created for a specific purpose to give my life meaning. If YOU can't figure out a purpose without resorting to fairytales, you're the one who is shallow, not me.
Living for myself is hardly empty.
As a reformed fundie I have to say I never found meaning and purpose in life until I gave up primitive superstitions and embraced an intellectually honest and naturalistic world view. Cosmic accident? Probably, but if so it’s a pretty damn wonderful accident. When I contemplate the likelihood of my own existence I’m filled with awe and gratitude. I shouldn’t be, yet I am. So much better the being the pawn of a temperamental and often cruel deity.
Atheism is not "an empty existance". Unlike you we don't need some diety to assign us a purpose in life. We have our own thoughts our own dreams our own ambitions that we strive for throughout life. And that my "friend" is true meaning.
Life simply exists and we can do whatever we want with ours. All things we achieve are our own achievemnts and our failures are our own failures, nobody is controling it.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
