They would if they were in a society like Iran, but in the USA most religious people are Christians who shove religion down peoples throats...

The reason why it seems like atheists attack only christianity is because christianity is the predominant religion in the west. There's no point putting up a sign saying "Allah doesn't exist" in a nation that is 85% christian. It doesn't have the same impact. Rest assured, though, that atheists and agnostics don't believe in Allah, either. If there were more Muslims here, it might be more of an issue.

If you must believe in any of this tosh I think the reasonable view is that Mary would have been about twelve when she bore Jesus, that was about the average age for having your first child at that time and in that culture. Christians don't have much cause to get upset about this one ;-)

1. They're using the Christian god as an example because Christianity is the majority religion. This logic is apparently lost on you.

He's got something of a point. After the Danish cartoon furore, I can see a lot of people being afraid to criticise Islam too heavily.
However, I do not (anymore) believe that it applies to FSTDT, which isn't an atheist board anyway. It is quite happy to put up fundie Islamic comments and situations as much as Christian ones - the Islamic quotes simply tend not to be written in English.

Ask any Professor of Theology. They'll tell you that the Hebrew 'Elohim' (as Jews refer to him), Judeo-Christian 'God' ('Jehovah', 'Yahweh', 'YHWH' etc) and Islamic 'Allah' are all one and the same. Why do you think they're all referred to as the Abrahamic religions?
PROTIP: The Church of Malta is one of the oldest established Christian churches (next to the Coptic Church in Egypt) that still exists to this day. They refer to God as 'Allah'.
Thus have the British Humanist Association - via said bus advert slogan (even including the word 'Probably', so as to conform to Advertising Standards Authority regulations*) - covered all the bases. Next question.

We atheists in the western world are mostly attacked by Christian fundies, that's why it seems like we are predominantly "attacking" Christianity.
