(Thread about Turkey blocking internet sites and barring them from the EU)
As for Turkey, they don't belong in the European Union because they are not European. They are Muslim.

Freedom of religion! We've got mulsims walking around in the streets of the European countries, so why would we care if they are walking around in their own country that happens to be a part of the European Union?
The thing that's hindering them in joining the EU is their culture. They've got some seriou issues to work out before we can accept them.
North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Australia, Antartica, Europe, and Muslim. Right?
Non sequitor.
Turkey retains a small bit of continental europe, so technically, they are european. What prevents them from becoming part of the European Union is the relativly bad situation of human rights down there, and maybe some economical issues. Despite being one of the most modern nation of the islamic world, the turkish still suppress minorities (kurdish people), have serious problems with their military (coup d'etat), are hardly able to interact peacefully with Greece, deny the historical massacre of Armenians (this is doctrin of the state. Anyone not denying it will go to prison). All this has nothing to do with being muslim.
So, "European" is a religion now? Are the primary tenants smoking like fiends, drinking good beer, and being annoyed with America? I've got everything but the smoking down. Maybe I'm a closet European? Praise Europa!
Incidentally, believe in Europa or you're going to Hell.

Hello. As a Turk I want to say that we have human right problems, but no economical problems, as even Bulgaria and Balkan states are worse than we are. Come and see here for a change.
As for Islam, I have long abandoned bloody Semitical bullshit and still can say I'm a Turk, and a proud one on top of that.
As for Armenian Massacre, I do agree with it, as a military massacre. NOT Genocide though. The Ottoman shambles of a state didn't have resources to feed,organize and control troops, yet alone organize an extermination. Almost every soldier turned "brigand". And yet no one speaks of Turkish villages razed by Armenian rebels.
We belong rightfully to EU, else the fuckwit government will turn to Middle East.
SAVE US FROM SHARIA'S CLAWS.
Signed, a very anti religious Turk.
Please allow me to clarify my earlier remarks.
I have nothing against Turkish people or culture, and I do think that eventually they will be admitted to the EU (and rightfully so). But in the meantime, they do need to improve their human rights record, and we also need to be wary of the other countries in the region (Russia, Belarus, Syria, etc.) who may feel threatened by the enlargement of the EU.
So I am not opposed to Turkish EU membership...but it will take some time.
As a European, I agree Turkey has human rights problems.
But I'd rather have the Turks inside the boat pissing out than outside the boat pissing in, which will happen if the Muslim fundies gain influence there.
Then, I guess you are no American. You are a Christian. Wait, I forgot, if you are a fundie then you get to arbitrarily change definitions to suit your arguments. My bad.
Turkey =/= Muslim.
It is a secular state with a majority population of Muslims, much like how the US has a majority population of Christians but is a secular, not Christian, state.
Tiny Bulcher. Actually, Turkish Government needs more freedom from Fundies than military. The Army is here unique, believe me, the words of an Atheist Turk. It helps the country's secularism. You may not believe but it is purely the protector of the people, save for a few corrupt officials.
They have strangled any attempt of religious changes to the government, and saved any non fundie many times from being lynched by the fundies on occasions.
@Jacob
"Great Britain has a monarchy which is the head of the Anglican Church. Should we bar England from the EU for the same reason?"
why not.
the only difference it would make is in the end, the uk won't be forced to swap to the euro.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
