This deserves more thoughtful comment but my immediate reaction was, “Those who object to the Bible’s teaching should move to somewhere where it is banned.” USSR no longer exists but I have heard that owning a copy in North Korea is dangerous.

Or we could just be protected by the first ammendment. The motto, if you don't like something, move somewhere else, is cheap and demogogy, moreover, it's what they do in North Korea(and holding a Bible is not forbidden, by the way)
Yet our country was founded on the principle of freedom of (and from, if desired) religion, so I'll just stay here, thanks.
Why? Why does it bother you when others don't share your opinions? If your religion were true, it would stand up on its own regardless of the naysayers. If you are so offended by it being challenged, I guess you don't actually believe it, either.
My immeadiate reaction is "Read the first ammendment", and leave if you don't like American freedom of religion. My second thought is "why bother, stupid fundies never read the Constitution(although they never stop trying to tell you what they think is in there, that isn't)!
Or, here's a thought, if you're so intent on building your little theocracy, why don't you pool together, get a boat, and colonize a nice little island somewhere.
Or YOU could move to theocracy government, since that's what you advocate.
As for the rest of us, we'll stay where you can choose which magical powers you decide to believe in - if you choose to believe in any at all.
"Those who object to Scientology's Dianetics teachings should move to somewhere where it is banned"
"Those who object to the Quran's teachings should move to somewhere where it is banned."
"Those who object to the politics of their lawfully elected leader should move to another country."
Yeah it is, Know why? Because the ruler of North Korea is devine, a God, from a devine line. It's royalty. It demands obediance, praise and adherence to strick dogma, it's a theocracy as many European kingdoms were.
North Korea's much like what right-wing Christians are demanding.
If southern Christians had their way you'd have Sarah Palin crowned for life
hmmm that puts you in quite an awkward and difficult position then.
I am a de facto atheist and...
I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment of my countrys constitution.
good luck moving me based on your psychotic, sadistic, flat out stupid fucking beliefs.
Owning a bible is one thing. Ramming its absurd message down everybody's throat and showing zelo tolerance for those not of a like mind is another.
The former is not a problem. Freedom of religion, and all that. The latter, though, is very much a problem.
“This deserves more thoughtful comment but my immediate reaction was, “Those who object to the Bible’s teaching should move to somewhere where it is banned.””
Yes. You should think this through.
First off, you’d want to exile every constitutional scholar who isn’t a creationist.
You’d want to exile a fuck-ton of lawyers.
You’d want to exile almost everyone who teaches the country’s actual history.
You’d want to exile a shitload of Christains who understand law, Constitution, History, etc.
Sadly, that’s probably no more than 60% of the country, but still. Who would pay to move 200 million people? Americans tend to have a LOT of shit.
If we accept your pronouncement, here, it would be
FAR more logical for the US to ban the Bible, no?
I mean, clearly, the ONLY reason not to teach one religion’s text in schools would be because it’s banned throughout the country, so we can make that happen.
I get to keep my street and mailing address, phone number, job, parking space, and the lack of bible access bothers me NOT A FUCKING BIT.
So, yeah, more careful thought is suggested.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
