It took three empires British, Soviet and American 12.5 years to demonise, defeat and plunder one nation smaller than Texas. They call this victory

A nation smaller than Texas picked a fight with the rest of Europe and their main successes stemmed from internal collaborators happily selling out their countrymen and forcing a surrender before a fight even started i.e. France. After experiencing resistance it sandwiched itself between armies on all sides nonsensically turning their back to the Allies to attack the Soviet Union despite there being a non-aggression pact in place. The Americans didn’t consider the war any of their concern outside of a trading opportunity before German ally Japan attack Pearl Harbor, speaking of which you’re quite conveniently omitting the Nazis also had other “empires” backing it up. Hilariously it’s typically anybody but actual Germans that are the ones trying to lionize Nazis or portray them as unfairly maligned victims.
I may not be a history buff, but even I can tell how over-simplified this is.
A bit like turning a tapestry into a single block of colour.
... then perhaps referring to that colour by a different name.
They call this victory
...and 75 years later, we still do.
You're welcome, Chancellor Merkel . b^_^d
F for effort, F- for historical accuracy. I think this statement better sums up what happened:
A nation smaller than Texas with the world’s largest industry, most efficient and modern military (except possibly Japan), and most important of all, a desperate, impoverished population that would believe the lies of one of history’s most despicable demagogues in turn for hope, invaded a dozen other under-prepared nations after nearly a decade of preparation. It took three Empires, one of whom was across the Atlantic Ocean, the other of which was shattered from the previous war and attempting to avoid confronting said Texas-sized nation, and the third of which had butchered most of its leadership, 6 years to expose, stymie, and eradicate the scumbag GOVERNMENT of this nation while it simultaneously battled two other fascist dictatorships.
They call this victory. Today, nazi morons would prefer they not use that term, because it triggers their snowflake hearts. Luckily, most of the world despises these morons, and continues to applaud the conflict’s result for what it was: victory.
Texas may be bigger than Germany - which, anyways, is not necessarily an advantage in war at all! -, but that’s mostly empty desert. Germany’s current population is ca. 84.5 millions (making us the top 19th), while Texas has a population of 29.1 million - slightly more than a third. But how was it back in the day?
Germany ruled over more than 86.5 million people, making it the seventh-most populated empire of the time…. and importantly, it had a mostly contiguous territory (beginning WW2 with conquering the country between eastern Germany and East Prussia…) with the vast majority of the population located in Germany proper, in marked contrast to the colonial empires of France and especially Great Britain where most of the population comes from various conquered lands spread out around the globe (in fact, of the 545 million people, nearly a quarter of the world population, living in the British Empire, well less than ten percent (47.7 million/8.7%) lived in the actual United Kingdom).
1939 Texas, meanwhile, had a population of…. 6.36 million. Less than a fortieth of Germany’s.
Confused?
