Evolution isn't a theory. It's an attempt to explain our existence (or current state) from a naturalist perspective in spite of the evidence rather than because of it. My eighth grade teacher would have called it a "myth" since he defined "mythology" as man's propensity to make up stories in an attempt to explain the unexplainable.

Your eighth grade teacher would be correct, but the analogy fails because evolution is not a myth.
Religion, on the other hand, is nothing but a myth and came into existence for the very reason that it was "an attempt to explain the unexplainable." That was understandable, thousands of years ago.
The tragedy is so much of what used to be unexplainable is now wholly explainable and even taken for granted by anybody with half a brain - but the myth of religion lives on.
"My eighth grade teacher would have called it a "myth" since he defined "mythology" as man's propensity to make up stories in an attempt to explain the unexplainable."
PRETTY PRETTY SHINY SHINY (mirror).
Little gem in there "the unexplainable"
Because an unexplainable thing need an unexplainable God, Right?
Thing there is that there is no reason to think we would ever know everything, especially things that are so very old as to have left literally no evidence. So you deists are the one making shit up to explain the unexplainable, many even boasting on how unknowable and unexplained it is, therefor we'll wedge a God in there.
Science isn't saying they know it all or even that it all can be known HOWEVER Evolution is proven by the fossil record and observable changes in life now.
Science has explained much, your religion has explained nothing, the Bibles been proven to have much wrong but somehow you think it has things right. That's not just Blind Faith, that's denial in the face of overwhelming evidence.
“Evolution isn't a theory.”
No, it’s a fact and a theory to explain the facts.
“It's an attempt to explain our existence (or current state) from a naturalist perspective in spite of the evidence rather than because of it.”
And what evidence would you say it spites?
“My eighth grade teacher would have called it a "myth" since he defined "mythology" as man's propensity to make up stories in an attempt to explain the unexplainable.””
If evolution was a made-up story, then all of science is, too. Gravitational theory, germ theory of disease, Heliocentrism, computer science…
But while science is an attempt to explain things, it’s the observable that it’s explaining.
Confused?
