I do enjoy science text books but I'm afraid I find that the Bible is too technical for me. For example this passage about meteorology in the southern hemishere from Genesis 29:5.8:-
5 And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.
6 And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.
7 And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.
8 And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.
Similarly, I wished to find out about fluid dynamics, specially Bernoulli's Principle, and consulted the relevant section in my text book, Ezekiel 24:3.7:-
3 And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
4 Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
5 Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
6 Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
Lo, do you see the difficulties I face? One needs to be more than an interested layman to comprehend these overly technical descriptions of important scientific theories and principles. Surely, the Bible is written for the advanced university level science scholar and not for the enthusiastic man in the street. Still, one good thing with this particular science text book, I am learning important scientific terms like lo, unto, and ye and how to use them in the proper context. I sound like a science swat now don't I? Lol.
