Just a second. If you hate guns, you´re not only a beloved Christian but also incompatible with fascism. Second, you should record that all the ills of society, you know, lower crime rate, more social security and tolerance are also European.
You know, my country actually did pretty well back when the government had socialist leanings. Too bad the NHS is the only part of that system we've really got left, and that's being starved of funding now.

Sadly, there has been a worrying rise of far-right parties in several European countries in the last few years, yes. Doesn't mean intelligent people are happy about it...

I fail to see how wishing that access to firearms would be restricted to people who have a professional need for them is a bad thing...

Oh, we still have quite a few theists here, they're far from extinct, they're simply quieter/less extremist than their US counterparts, usually. I suspect that what you were referring to is the fact that we have nearly nobody moaning and bitching about governments and public schools being secular, and that religion hasn't a tenth of the grip it has on worldly affairs in the US.
I wonder if DF would be all that happier if European governments were at the Pope's beck and call...

We teach accepted scientific theories in school, yes. You are still perfectly free to preach creationism bullshit if you want, though, just keep it where it belongs, in church.
As for car bombs, most of these seem to have happened in the Middle East (particularly Irak), according to Wikipedia. There have been the Madrid (2004) and London (2005) attacks, but they weren't car bombs attacks. Seriously, there are at least ten times more vehicles destroyed by vandalism during the Xmas/New Year period (an annoying recent trend) than cars used in terrorist attacks in Europe.
Well, Europe is a large and diverse place.
Like cars that do 50 miles per gallon instead of 20, hospitals that don't ask for your money, the richest 10% making "only" 7-10 times as much as the poorest 10% rather than 18 times like in America, or one fourth as many murders?
