It made me laugh when David Nicholls compared creationist beliefs to belief in alien abuduction. Doesn't he realise that beleif in aliens (and alien abduction) are logical deductions from evolution theory, not creationism! Mr Nicholls doesn't even seem to understand the implications of his own beliefs LOL!

TBH,
If aliens exist then doesn't that pretty much deny all of creationist?
Because if were intelligently designed, they how come (assuming they find us first) they would be more technologically advanced?
OK, I get that, if we assume that 'evolution' is being used as a codeword for 'science and observable reality', then it supports the likelihood of life on other planets, compared to the creationist insistence that Earth is unique and humanity is the whole reason that everything exists. That could be stretched to saying that belief in the existence of aliens is a deduction from 'evolution theory'.
But how in the nine hells do you get from that to it being logical to assume that they're coming and abducting us?

Sorry... what???
Belief in alien abduction is a case of people jumping to an unlikely conclusion based on flimsy evidence and then fixating on this belief, refusing to budge even under the onslaught of a tsunami of negative evidence.
Funnily enough, that sounds more akin to creationism to me, not evolution.
Talks bollocks then concludes with an emphatic LOL! As if to say, "All my stupidity makes all your science looks er, um, heh, er, .... LOL!" LOL.
Okay, let's say life arose on another planet, evolution took hold, and eventually we ended up with a mascroscopic species capable of toolmaking.
Even then ... what kind of evolutionary history would select for a predilection with flying to other star systems, abducting other organisms who live there, and performing buttsex experiments on them?
I present to you the One Act Play of This Quote.
Nicholls: Belief in creationism is ridiculous. As ridiculous as belief in alien abductions.
Dave2010: LOL BUT CREATIONISTS DUN BELIEV IN ALIUNS
Nicholls: Not the point. I mean that both concepts are laughable.
Dave2010: IF YU BELEIVE IN EVOLUTION, YOU BELEIV IN ALIEN ABUDUCTION! Yu do'nt even know that LOL?
World: o_o
Aliens can be a logical deduction depending on what is being talked about. Aliens that have an ass fetish, doubtful. Bacteria hanging out on rocks that slam into the earth, possible.
Green aliens that hang out at night and take advantage of burly truck drivers... Pretty darn comparable to creationism.
Hey, in medieval Europe it was debated whether or not Christ would have to incarnate on other planets or stars in order to save the people there.
Unless Thomas Aquinas came up with the theory of evolution, guess who thought of aliens first?
Evolution can happen on temperate planets > There is at least one temperate body in our solar system, so there are likely to be trillions in the Galaxy > therefore it is likely that life has emerged on at least one of these planets > Therefore there are aliens on another world hell bent on travelling thousands of lightyears to insert a probe into the arse of a midwestern farmer?
Could you please show your working next time?
You're right in saying that the belief in the existence of aliens is a logical deduction from evolution theory. After all, there are countless stars out there, and the odds are pretty good that some of them have earth-like planets. If evolution can happen on an earth-like planet (which it obviously can), then it is likely that there are other lifeforms out there.
The belief that aliens have been coming to our planet and kidnapping people willy-nilly, however, has nothing to do with the belief in their existence.
Evolution, therefore Greys.
Of course, it all makes sense now!
Doesn't he realise [sic] that beleif [sic] in aliens (and alien abduction) are logical deductions from evolution theory
No he doesn't, because it isn't. What an idiot.
Wait... what?
Evololution =/= Aliens
Buy a biology textbook
Confused?
