Hum, Kaykay, dearie, you are aware that atheists already existed long before Darwin published his theory, aren't you? As a matter of fact, we have works of atheists that predate the Gospels by quite a bit. Does the name Epicurus ring a bell, for example?
Why would you want to live in pieces anyway? Or did you mean in peace? Strangely enough, there hasn't been much lasting peace during the last couple of millenia while Xianism and similar religions had the power to basically make it suicidal to be an open atheist.
@checkmate:
It would be great if Jesus hadn't been crucified, then we wouldn't have to put up with all this shit.
If only it were that simple! Unfortunately, the evidence point toward Jesus never having existed in the first place, which would have made nailing him to a stick pretty difficult, and still all that crap shows no sign of being about to get flushed away anytime soon...
(For those who don't have the time to read a -very interesting- wall of text, the gist of the article is that the first Gospel, Mark, was actually an allegory that used lots of references to the Torah, written by a Jew during or after the conflict between the Jews and the Romans that resulted in the destruction of Judea in 70 CE, with a message of "Good job, people! Once again, we've managed to piss Yahweh off so badly that he had our nation crushed by foreigners!" The other Gospels were then written based on Mark by people with other agendas and/or who completely missed the point and believed the story to be about actual events)
