[Commenting on the "kidnapping" of a eucharist]
You DO know he committed a crime right? Stealing something of religious value is dick like. Also, saying "it's just a damned cracker" shows lack of understanding of Catholicism, meaning I don't care about any death threats you may get.
[Regarding university professor who commented on the same issue]
And by the way, that's a hate crime. Crime motivated by hate. Hello, prison, good bye, useless cushy job!

It is not stealing if it is given to you, it is a mundane object that is given religious value arbitrarily and en masse, and saying "it's just a damned cracker" is a method of expressing how incapable these people are at keeping things in perspective (hence, death threats).
Also, a hate crime has to be a crime first. Free speech has to be threatening in order to qualify as criminal. Guess who does and does not qualify...
Call 1-800-PASTORB The B’ is for butthead!
Neither that kid nor PZ Myers did anything legally actionable. Death threats, on the other hand, are quite illegal whether you, an apologist for that acquisitive pedophile machine you call a church, “care” about those threats or not.
You DO know he committed a crime right?
No it isnt. They GAVE him the cracker.
Also, saying "it's just a damned cracker" shows lack of understanding of Catholicism, meaning I don't care about any death threats you may get.
Whatever happened to forgiveness and love thy neighbor?
Transubstantiation is a bizarre concept that has no place in a society that has invented that scientific fields of physics and chemistry.
Yes, their belief IS stupid, ignorant and primitive.
Something given is not stolen. Laughing at a quaint bit of religious folly is not a hate crime.
...meaning I don't care about any death threats you may get.
You support hate crimes, yes?
[edit]
You know the old tree-falls-in-the-forest line...
If a priestling consecrates the wafer and nobody's there, does it really transubstantiate?
Mhmm. Since no one was hurt or threatened, it doesn't count as a hate crime. I could stand on a soap box and shriek at the top of my lungs that I hate Catholics with all my sad little heart and it wouldn't be a hate crime. Now, if I sprayed painted that on the side of a church or attacked a priest, that would be a hate crime. The "theif" stood on the soap box. You need to get over it.
Soon, WoW players that are infested by fundies will soon be saying:
The night elves believe in the Goddess, Elune. THAT'S DEVIL WORSHIPING!!!!!!
The original WoW thread has been deleted, but I'll bet you Pastorb was a level 70 Hunter.
You can always tell a Hunter.
It's a wafer that tastes like cardboard.
Here, take a box of em'. It's a church. It's suppose to be giving food away. Although after you taste those wafers you might wish you had held out till fish & chips Fridays.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*gasp* .... inhaler.... need inhaler.... *wheeze*
And yes, it's a fucking *CRACKER*!
"You DO know he committed a crime right?"
Which one was that again?
"Stealing something of religious value is dick like."
It's not stealing if someone gives you the fucking thing .
"Also, saying "it's just a damned cracker" shows lack of understanding of Catholicism, meaning I don't care about any death threats you may get."
Pointing out that--despite all the Latin in the world being muttered over it--that it's still just a cracker is the rational thing to do. I also find it extremely entertaining to have grown adults argue with me and tell me that it's actually "Gawd" now.
"And by the way, that's a hate crime. Crime motivated by hate. Hello, prison, good bye, useless cushy job!"
Not quite. I see you're not exactly a Harvard Law graduate, are ya?
They have invaded WoW?
Oh man.
"You DO know he committed a crime right?"
Not unless the cracker came with an EULA printed on the back, he didn't!
Are we not done with this story yet. We have commented on it a few times already.
-its just a really horrible tasting cracker
-he didn't steal it, it was given to him
-it's not a hate crime, no one got hurt (maybe their feeling a little)
They all need to move on
This isn't a crime, but aren't all real crimes driven by hate? You don't rape, rob, or assault someone because you think they are a wonderful person.
What the fuck is going on here? Overkill is an understatemnet about this. No it is not a crime, a sacrilege probably, but this isn't fucking 15th century Spain and the Inquisition does not control the government. Get a life!
"Also, saying "it's just a damned cracker" shows lack of understanding of Catholicism, meaning I don't care about any death threats you may get."
Hate the sin not the sinner, remember? Some pastor you are.
Why are you guys shocked there are fundies who play WoW? Blizzard's long-time webmaster Geoff Frazier is a hardcore Seventh Day Adventist fundie crazy, and he's been with Blizzard for probably a decade now. He used to have some super hardcore fundietarded shit on his old shlonglor and expectnothing websites, including whole defenses of YEC and a serious, unhealthy, borderline "makes you wonder if he himself is gay" obsession for ranting against homosexuals.
"The original WoW thread has been deleted, but I'll bet you Pastorb was a level 70 Hunter.
You can always tell a Hunter."
Dwarf Priest actually, IIRC. I see him there a lot. He's always like this.
In order for it to be a hate crime, it must be a crime, not simply an action motivated by hate, you dickhead.
Calling you a dickhead is motivated by hate against idiots, but it's not a hate crime as name calling is not a crime. Nor is recieving an overrated cracker.
YOU MADE UP THIS COMMENT.
THE TOPIC WAS DELETED.
WHERE IS YOUR PROOF.
YOURE AN ATHEIST SHOW US THE PROOF HE MADE THE POST.
AHHHHH my fungal jungle rot!!
One, all crimes are motivated by hate. Hate crime means that you target a particular group for the mere fact of being what they are, not pissing them off and that's all folks. In this case, if he doesn't agree theologically with you, it's not a crime and the law can't intervene. It's something they have to solve, theologically, themselves.
If stealing those things is a crime, how about the fact that every Sunday (and other occasions) they get eaten? You know, destroyed?
I gotta admit, though...it is tempting to pretend that I'm a Catholic again so I can eat them. Damn, they're tasty.
I'm bothered by the mentality behind the "kidnapping".
Perhaps to all atheists and even most christians, the belief that the host is sacred is a primitive and laughable notion. But it is something important for catholics, one of the main tennets of our faith, and one that doesn't hurts anyone. The proffesor might have received the host freely, but willingly profanate it is something that can only be made as an insult, and a very cruel one. He does not believes that the cracker means anything, but he is willing to offend for the sake of offending.
Even if it does not makes sense to non-catholics, it pains us to see that. People getting offended is to be expected and, while I think that threathen the professor with death is taking it way too far, many catholics are really sad and angry ofr what they can only perceive as an insult and a sacrilege.
For a lot of people, it just be a friggin' cracker. But for catholics, it is one of the greatest gifts Jesus left us. Much in the same way the American flag is not just "some damned piece of cloth".
So, to end, I think that profesor is a dick, getting publicity from being offensive.
"I don't care about any death threats you may get"
"good bye, useless cushy job!"
Your opinions are invalid. After all, you have 'No Life', Pastorb (watch that episode of "South Park", to know what I mean). Least of all someone who uses the phrase "is dick like".
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
