Can be, if that's the aspect you choose to worship. This is going to get a bit mystical now but bear with me. Lucifer is a being of change, enlightenment and rebellion. As such, he is not limited to one physical body and, like any being, he has numerous facets to his personality. So if you choose to worship a god of unbridled lust (with willing partners, forcing your choices on another is generally a no-no) and sensuous ecstasy, he will be that being for you. And that aspect will be entirely true and completely accurate. For you.
For others, he might be a god of intellectual endeavor (he is the Morningstar, after all, bringer of enlightenment) or a god of enduring through suffering (cast out, cast down, but never surrendered) or a god of rebellion against the oppressor (no explanation necessary). He contains and is all of those aspects and which aspect you get will depend on how you worship.
To us, Lucifer rebelled because the Big Beard's rules were fundementally unfair and unkind. Why design a being with instincts and then forbid the indulgence of them? Why allow a being to be created whom you know will end up in hell? Why insist that mankind's failings have to be paid for in blood? Why not just forgive everyone? It's not like there are rules god has to follow. HE made the rules, HE decided the punishment, HE decided what the price was going to be and HE doesn't even have the balls to take responsibility for it, hiding behind free will and "you send yourself to hell".
So Lucifer said "fuck that shit" and rebelled. Yes, he lost the battle but the war is still an open question and, more importantly, it is more important to be right than "saved". Better to serve in hell than give even tacit approval to such a monster of a god. So I choose Lucifer and hell and it doesn't scare me. Because hell is Lucifer's domain and when god chose not to hear or see those who suffered there, he gave Lucifer free reign.
But now, I've gone on far too long and tested your indulgence too much. If we were having this discussion IRL, I'd buy you a beer to compensate (at this point, I'd probablky be buying the bar drinks) but here, all I can offer is my apologies.
