this seems a typical christian attitude, not a fundy one. I mean, of course they're going to think that, else they'd be muslims instead of christians.

Yahweh (actually only the High Priest in ancient Jerusalem knew the pronunciation, as Hebrew, like most semitic languages, does not generally write vowels) is God's name. And even the High Priest pronounced that name only once a year on Yom Kippur, the one occasion when he entered the Holy of Holies in the Temple. The Name was regarded as ineffable, not to be pronounced. Hence, Jews, every time it appears in the sacred texts, substitute the word Adonai - The Lord.
Christians and Jews believe there is only one god. So it must be the one and same god they believe in.
Muslims believe there is only one god.
So why is the Muslim god a different god? It simply isn't logical. If there is only One, then that One must be the same. Not that anything to do with religion is logical.
And completely nothing to do with this: in the little café in rural France where I had lunch today there was a worker at the next table wearing a name-badge. His name was Christian Bigot. Of course it is not an English name so it has no sense of bigotry... Still, having beenon this board before I left home, in the circumstances I was amused at the tricks synchronicity can play.
