"While there are some confusing passages in the bible, a parent can readily relay (or provide a study guide) the overriding positive message of the bible in terms of salvation, care for the poor, social justice, etc."
None of that is mentioned, implied, hinted at or even considered prior to the New Testament. Apparently you're one of those people who believes the OT is simply an irrelevant foreword that can simply be skipped as it has nothing to do with the "real" Bible.
"In contrast, look at the killings that atheistic regimes (Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot) have brought to society in the last 100 years, not to mention that secular-driven abortion policies annually kill 46 million worldwide!"
Four guys in the last 100 years ran dictatorships that killed a bunch of people (as dictators of any stripe are wont to do, but they never did it for/in the name of/because of atheism) and you're saying atheism is bad? What about the past 2,000 years since Christianity has been in charge of things in most places in the Western world? We've had Crusades, witch trials, Inquisitions, burning heretics, burning books, suppression of anything "heretical" (i.e., science that didn't support your fable), exploitation of the poor by Popes and Bishops dripping with gold and jewels yet having the audacity to ask for more donations of land, goods and money to the Church (i.e., themselves) and so on. For two thousand fucking years.
"Which future vision do you want for your children?"
The one without all of the above mentioned lunacy.
