Mystery:Why Do Non-Conservatives Exist?
Conservative principles are based on reason. So why do non-conservatives still exist? Here are some reasons:
...
* 20%: did not hear about conservative principles until after they made up their mind and, perhaps due to pervasive societal bias, refuse to reconsider
* 10%: genuinely lack of desire to find the truth, and instead desire attention, praise by liberal teachers, getting along by going along, and not standing up to liberal bullies
* 10%: refuse to forgive themselves and let go of their past mistakes and image
* 10%: believe myths created around government programs like the "New Deal" that liberal policies create jobs instead of destroying them and depriving people of liberty through government control.
* 10%: fooled by the demonizing of conservatives and mistakenly feel that conservative benefits are available only to those who are from an intact family or privileged background
* 10%: refuse to rise above their personal temptations, often self-destructive, and hate conservatives who criticize their self-indulgent behavior
* 10%: feel that they deserve to make more money than they do, as in public school teachers and university professors, and refuse to rise above self-interest
* 10%: harbor a grudge against a conservative, typically a parent but sometimes an ex-spouse, and refuse to forgive or rise above the animosity
* 5%: like an anarchist, genuinely want to believe in and propagate destructive ideas
* 5%: are susceptible to marketing and suggestion to an overlarge degree.

"10% feel that they deserve to make more money than they do, as in public school teachers and university professors, and refuse to rise above self-interest"
Public school teachers are self interested? Public school teachers are in it for the money? Are you shitting me? I admit, in Canada they're a bunch of overpaid whining morons. From what I've heard about the states though, they barely scratch by.
What a load of drivel. However, I'm sure that kids who read this can use the information to get into *top* universities.
Oops, edit Sisyphus reporting for duty
"10%: feel that they deserve to make more money than they do, as in public school teachers and university professors, and refuse to rise above self-interest "
Hell, if we paid these people more we'd have a much better education system and turn out more prepared people to the world.
(I know, I'm about to finish a contract at a University and I can't believe how low their standards are for both students and teachers. Engineering students who never have assigned homework and instructors who are working on their phd in education, not the subject they teach! I'd love to be able to afford to continue to teach for a living - maybe then I could fix how dumb most engineers are... instead I'm forced to go back to looking for work in industry with the same dumb coworkers. No offense to the handful of you that have a clue, but I'm sure you are just as frustrated as I am.)
100% citation needed.
And I really hate the condescending way conservatives tend to think that "liberals," that is, anyone who disagrees with them on anything, can't make up their own minds. It could be that 100% of "liberals" looked at all sides of an issue and disagreed with the conservatives.
And again, we have another sighting of "all teachers are liberals trying to convert your kids" in the wild.
"Mystery:Why Do Non-Conservatives Exist?"
Because there's people who (like me) rightly consider you conservatives to be evil in word, action & thought.
Mystery solved.
"10%: feel that they deserve to make more money than they do, as in public school teachers and university professors, and refuse to rise above self-interest"
Apparently, someone missed the memo that there are, in fact, homeless teachers out there. And I don't mean "homeless people who have a teaching certification but no job." I mean people who are currently employed as teachers, but cannot afford a place to live on a teacher's salary.
Non-conservatives still exist because most people are not psychotic. No one is "demonizing" conservatives. The way your side has behaved since Obama took office is just insane, and the whole world has watched you all lose your shit for the past year. It's embarrassing that you people can't see yourselves as the mental and moral defectives you are, but instead go to church and teabag parties and sites like Conservapedia to make up "statistics" like this to convince yourselves that you possess the only "truth". This is why you guys never get help for your severe mental illness. It would be pitiful if you conservatives weren't so dangerous and power hungry.
Strictly speaking, no advancement would be possible if everyone was a conservative.
Conservapedia = 100% FAIL
Huh, and I thought things such as age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, social status, and life experiences shaped your political affiliation.
I agree with everyone here that these statistics are 100% B.S.
Mystery: Why do conservatives exist?
*5% of them are sociopaths who manipulate others for their own gain.
*75% of them are superstitious primitives who believe any stupid thing they are told by the 5%
*25% of them were brainwashed during their childhood to distrust their own common sense.
*30% of them are retarded.
*10% of them are mentally ill.
Note: 45% of conservatives are superstitious primitives, brainwashed, retarded and mentally ill at the same time.
I used to think like that about Conservatives. But then I grew older and left 7th grade, realizing that not all people find "treating others as you want to be treated" a good policy. That people actually believe "Every man for himself" is a great idea.
So, when are you passing on to high school?
After the first sentence, i needed some antacid tablets, oh and a bottle of vodka. This guy cant be real. If he is, we are in trouble.
"10%: believe myths created around government programs like the "New Deal" that liberal policies create jobs instead of destroying them and depriving people of liberty through government control."
As far as the New Deal creating jobs--WPA, bitch.
And ever seen those photos of starving people lined up in Depression soup lines? The New Deal also helped keep thousands of people from dying through other programs. So I guess you're saying that what Jesus believed, when He taught all of that stuff about helping the poor, was also a myth.
On one hand, I'm disgusted by this, as someone who is definitely right-of-center, I feel that these bananaheads are ruining the name of Conservatism, and deserve to be mocked; severely and often.
On the other hand, sometimes I wonder when this site went from "Fundies say the darndest things" to "Conservative Witch Hunt" Due to the site it came from, I'm sure that this person is a fundie (or maybe a parodist, they've had that happen to them quite a lot, to much hilarity) But I don't think that this is a very fundie quote, it's just right wing propaganda, you could easily reverse it and place "Liberal" in the place of "Conservative" and it would be just as meaningless.
*edited to correct massive spelling failure
"10%: harbor a grudge against a conservative, typically a parent but sometimes an ex-spouse, and refuse to forgive or rise above the animosity"
Now this one really sticks out at me. The amount of projection in that list is baffling on its own, but this really takes the cake. Whoever wrote this thinks that people don't mentally progress beyond the "You hurt my feelings now I hate you" stage of mentality.
Conservative principles are based on reason.
Yeah. Right.
C: "Government should stay out of our business".
L: "OK, then what about abortion? Shouldn't it stay out of that, too and let people do what they want?"
C: "Uh, well, that's different. But what about all that OSHA crap that's costing us money?"
L: "OK, then what about Worker's Comp laws that protect you from lawsuits? Should we get rid of those, too, so you're free to take the safety guards off a machine, and the employee is free to sue your ass out of existence?
C: "Uh, well, that's different. But what about all this damn socialism?"
L: "Then shall we charge you the full cost of everything and make you pay $12,000 a year for schooling each of your four kids and cut childless peoples' taxes by 80%?"
C: "Uh, well that's different" ...
A handful of conservatives follow reason. Most people who call themselves "conservatives" are just using that as an excuse to be selfish. "Socialism" is when the government spends money on somebody other than ME.
We have a Conservative Party over here. Parliamentary games aside, they are mostly reasonable people; conservatism of their sort is a legitimate point of view (I don't agree with most of it, mind) based on reason and argument. A conservative political group is even a necessary balance in any functioning democracy; one party rule is nearly always unhealthy.
But this isn't like that. This is why it is fundie. It doesn't argue against or reason with opposing points of view. It demonises them (literally). It doesn't believe opposing points of view ought to exist. It does not understand why opposing points of view exist. It is deranged, monomaniac, millenarian and extremist. And as such richly deserves its place on this site.
Anybody wants any balance, I'm sure I could dig up something by the Revolutionary Communist Party or some similar bunch of nutters. But they aren't serious political forces. This bunch, alas, are.
Why do those statistics add up to exactly 100%? It's not like any of those are exclusive; you can believe 'New Deal' myths *and* be fooled by the demonizing of conservatives. I can see myself in eight out of ten of those categories (once they've been modified to remove conservadouche bias, of course).
... I'm overthinking this, aren't I?
Edit: "Conservative principles are based on reason. So why do non-conservatives still exist?"
Because Andy Schafly touches himself at night.
Reagan broke the New Deal. His cronies never gave a two-day-old shit for anything except big profit.
Is FoMoCo going to manufacture all their new "American" cars in China? I notice in the news today they're buying out or early-retiring all their US factory workers.
Idiot! Conservative policies lead to my father's school for example not having enough budget for fucking pencils and paper (the teachers bring their own), but on the other hand bailing out the banks (for their own stupid mistakes IMHO) with 600 billion dollars. You're like fucking Marie Antoinette
Chamberman: My queen, the people they are starving, they have no bread!
Antoinette: Well, feed them cake! Do they not have cake?
Edit: Fucking elitist sonuvabitch. Probably never worked a day of honest work in his life.
10%: feel that they deserve to make more money than they do, as in public school teachers and university professors, and refuse to rise above self-interest
Of course "rising above self interest" is completely keeping in character with being a conservative isn't it?
"Why Do Non-Conservatives Exist? "
Because not everybody benefits from the status quo and others feel for those that don't.
"Why do conservatives exist?"
Because the status quo works out super for a lot of people and these people feel any change is unlikely to be for the better.
I'm a queer pagan Arab. Even if I wanted to be conservative, which I don't because I think even fiscal conservatism is based on classism and selfishness while social conservatism is a hypocritical institution that pretends to be moral while it lies and kills...you fellows wouldn't let me in your club.
Without non-conservatives you couldn't define conservatives, stupid.
Conservapedia is SERIOUSLY attracting the loonies. There needs to be a name for whatever makes these people think differing opinions are a mental illness.
You know, if you went and replaced every instance of "liberal" with "conservative" and vice-versa, there'd be a few decent points in there.
But that's the asshole in me talking. The (wannabe)wise man on the mountain in me says that you really shouldn't be so ready to convince yourself that your ideas and "knowledge" are the absolute truth, conservative or liberal.
Okay,
* I was raised in a catholic school, so lets assume I had heard "conservative views" before i made up my mind
* I read philosophical books, the Bible, Koran, and books on a wide range of scientific ideas, so I have a desire to find the truth, and as mentioned before, liberal teachers didn't exist for me.
* Nope, I accept who I was in the past, but the me that I am now is a different person from the me I was then, so I have let go.
* I study Economics, so i have to know the "myths created around government programs" because sometimes, just sometimes, they work.
*This list just basically attacked teachers, the government and the whole of society, so if conservatives are demonized in my eyes, it was the conservatives who did it.
* I don't drink much, I don't do drugs, so what self destructive habits?
*WTF does that have to do with anything.
*Nope, never been married and my parents actually didn't bother that much with religion (for the record i went to a catholic school because it happened to be the best one in the area, not because of family beliefs.)
*Anarchists aren't generally destructive, it's actually a myth. The great anarchist band Crass once said "I don't want your bloody revolution, I want anarchy and peace."
* Disproven many times, by various psychology teachers, who found that I was swaywed by advertising less than average
I think I've gone through every one of this guys points and haven't found one that explained me. So whats my excuse for being a "non-conservative"?
"* 5%: are susceptible to marketing and suggestion to an overlarge degree."
My irony meter is going off the charts when I read this one, because the far right is more than gullible to believe anything controversial that is against non-conservatives they hear on the news or what-have-you. Some still believe Obama is a Muslim due to his slip of the tongue during an interview, and they eat it up. FOX News also adds fuel to the fire, as we all know...
hey andy, im a teacher abroad and my mother's a fourth grade special ed teacher in the states. i challenge your privilaged candy ass to last one week in her shoes, on her salary. we'll see how much you bitch about self interest after about an hour of actual work. you are a useless pussy, by the way.
"10%: fooled by the demonizing of conservatives and mistakenly feel that conservative benefits are available only to those who are from an intact family or privileged background"
conservative policies ARE only for the rich though.
"* 10%: believe myths created around government programs like the "New Deal" that liberal policies create jobs instead of destroying them and depriving people of liberty through government control."
There was more unemployment under Thatcher than there was under the previous more left wing Keynesian policies. People on the right are much more likely to use unemployment as a tool to hold down wages.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
