1. I am a Christian.2. Homosexuality is in conflict with my Christian beliefs.3. Homosexual adoption and marriage only spread homosexuality. Why would I want to spread homosexuality? And stop spewing this BS about religious ideas having no place in our laws. Where do you think American morals came from in the first place? Christian beliefs. There is no disputing the facts.

1. So I am, but I'd bet that our beliefs would still differ.
2. Funny, I see nothing "un-Christian" about accepting those who are different. As a matter of fact, I feel that it agrees with my Christian beliefs. "Love thy neighbor?" "Treat others as you would like to be treated?"
3. How does heterosexual marriage spread heterosexuality? In case you were wondering, there are homosexual kids who have straight parents. And there are homosexual parents who adopt straight kids. How do you solve that paradox?
Most of the Founding Fathers were deist. Separation of church and state is a fundamental part of our legal system, as well as the practice and enforcement of the First Amendment, which grants, among other things, freedom of religion. You are a blind idiot.
"Homosexuality is in conflict with my Christian beliefs."
So is eating pork, I'm willing to bet you like ham or bacon.
"Homosexual adoption and marriage only spread homosexuality."
No it dosent.
"And stop spewing this BS about religious ideas having no place in our laws."
They don't. If you want a religious government move to Iran.
"Where do you think American morals came from in the first place? Christian beliefs."
Article 11 of the "Treaty of Tripoli" begs to differ: Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion...
By American morals I think you mean American laws, which goes back to the constitution, which says, in the First Amendment, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." So, there you have it. You're wrong.
How the heck does homosexual adoption spread homosexuality? And how does marriage spread homosexuality?
The Founding Fathers of your country worked very hard to keep religion out of the Constitution and the laws.
See, I was able to dispute that fact, from across the Atlantic... Shouldn't you know more about American History than I do?
If you don't mean American Laws, then your American morals comes from European morals and Native American morals.
Almost no other Western country have kept the Death Penalty. It's just Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, North Korea, not-so-very-nice countries like that. Oh, and the US. How does that work with Thou Shalt Not Kill?
Yeah, facts are pretty hard to dispute.
1.) The first line of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution reads "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
2.) This means that the government has no right to interfere with anyone's religion and no one's religion has any right imposing itself on the government.
3.) If your going to point out that the First Amendment only says "Congress shall make no law" and use that to claim that individual states can make whatever laws they want regarding religion, I advise you to take a brief look at the Fourteenth Amendment and look at judicial precedent for the past fifty years.
4.) Your religious views say that homosexuality is evil and that allowing gays to adopt children and to marry will somehow "spread homosexuality" -- however that happens? It's not like a virus you can catch.
5.) Some people have completely different religious views. To non-religious people, your Bible-based objections mean nothing. Moreover. many religious people have no problem with gays. There are churches that would be happy to perform gay marriages.
6.) For example, after the California Supreme Court declared it was illegal to keep same-sex couples from marrying, Proposition 8 was passed, taking away that right and banning same-sex marriage. One of the groups opposing Prop. 8 was the California Council of Churches. The same group supports the attempt to overturn Prop. 8 in the courts.
7.) Because the government cannot favor one religion over the other it cannot pass laws based solely on your religious mindset to be forced on everyone else who may not share your religious viewpoint.
8.) Is that clear enough for you? After all, there is no disputing the facts.
It should be obvious to any American who believes this that America has NEVER operated under Christian rule. If it did many existing freedoms would NEVER have been established.
New freedoms and rights would NEVER have occured and America would be a theocratical shithole
If your logic was true, there should be no homosexuality, as children are born of heterosexuals and raised by heterosexuals. Homosexuality isn't 'contagious' any more than heterosexuality. Fail on your part, part one.
Treaty of Tripoli clearly states the US is not now, nor ever has been, a Christian based country, nor should it ever become one.
@Angua:
In fact, the 14th Amendment actually went much further:
In Prigg v Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court ruled that private individuals, in addition to the states and the federal government, were forbidden from interfering with the property rights of slaveholders.
The 14th Amendment was actually written with this precedent in mind and used to prosecute terrorists such as Cruikshank from Cruikshank v United States, which is when the Supreme Court ruled (in as bad a perversion of justice as Dred Scott) that the 14th Amendment could not apply to private individuals.
Also, out of interest, Dred Scott was the first Supreme Court ruling that delimited Federal powers.
Confused?
