A pantheist... like that is a real designation... is a euphemism for atheist and hedonist.
There isn't a nickel's worth of difference between an atheist and pantheist.

Atheists do not believe in the existance of any god(s).
Pantheists believe that nature is god.
If you want to play with the adults you need to know the meaning of the words your using, you'll look slightly less foolish that way.

Had trouble with them big words, did ya?
At least he's learning a little...
to go with the earlier analogy
I'm not a Negro.
Oh, then you must be Caucasian.
No, I'm Asian.
What's Asian - that's not a real word, who cares actually, there isn't a nickel's worth of difference between Negroid and Mongoloid. Non whites suck knob.
a·the·ism : [ey-thee-iz-uhm] noun
1. the doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2. disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings.
--------------
pan·the·ism : [pan-thee-iz-uhm] noun
1. the doctrine that God is the transcendent reality of which the material universe and human beings are only manifestations: it involves a denial of God's personality and expresses a tendency to identify God and nature.
2. any religious belief or philosophical doctrine that identifies God with the universe.
Yep, those are totally the same. I mean, the similarities are astounding!... if you're a complete idiot.
So many = none?
*headdesk*
You know, I agree that there is almost no operational difference between atheism, agnosticism, and Spinozan pantheism and "strong" deism. No point in prayer or worship, no divine intervention, no revelation, etc. That is probably being far more nuanced than what he intends, though.
The stupid, it burns.
Pantheism is often a part of monotheism - it's the belief that 'God is everywhere'. Isn't that what Fundies also believe? that God is everywhere?
God, they're so fucking dumb they don't even understand their own theology.
Pssst....uhm, Dad, if you are a real Christian, then you ARE a pantheist. It simply means that God is everywhere and in everything, kinda like omnipotence in your Bible. You really need to read defintions before you reply to these things so you don't seem stupid.
Actually, this one might just come from John Toland, the 18th century Irish intellectual noted as the first person in history to be dubbed a "freethinker." Toland was an atheist, having got there by way of Spinozist pantheism, which he argued did not require Spinoza's conatus or divine intelligence to function as an explanatory mechanism for reality. (The argument is in his Letters to Serena, though he'd effectively announced his atheism in Christianity Not Mysterious years before.)
Toland called himself a pantheist as a result, but he seems to have meant it as a nonpejorative term covering his materialist philosophical outlook and its atheistic conclusions. As a result of Toland's self labeling, it's possible to find texts that equate "pantheist" with "atheist."
But no, I don't think this bozo actually knows any of the above.
I think the point here is, the 'p' and 'n' that distinguish the two words do not add up in value to five cents.
Why bother mentioning this, kcdad? I mean, like, really .
Confused?
