[Let's suppose it was murder. Shall we sentence all women who have abortions to 25-life? How about the death penalty?]
Yes.
Knowing that the consequence for murder was the death penalty, if people still commit the crime they accept the punishment.

So you'd rather have women ruining their lives with a child they can't care for, or maybe DYING while trying to give birth to a baby their body can't handle? Oh, wait, I forgot, you're a fundie. Women are only good for popping out babies, and if they can't, tough.
Considering that the Torah regards causing a woman to miscarry without consent (which is what abortion basically is, minus the "without consent") as more akin to involuntary manslaughter than murder in the first degree, I'm not so sure this is going to work from your perspective...
You're a member of an organization that not only condoned but has demanded the murder of both individuals and entire cultures/races. Is it too much of a stretch to propose that, as a member of that organization, you be held responsible for those murders?
The rights of the individual in a democratic society will supersede the rights of society as a whole unless it can be shown a detriment to said society. In the case of abortion the rights of the individual supersede as it cannot be shown to have a detriment to society. In fact, it can be shown, a woman having a child who is unable to care for it is a detriment to society as a whole, therefore, abortion should be legal.
The next step after that, logically speaking, is sentencing 'undesirables' to death so we only have a nation of middle-class, white, Christian, nuclear families. For undesirables read: non-Christians, infertile women, women of color, immigrants, those with criminal records, pregnant drug addicts, the unmarried, pregnant rape victims, the mentally ill, disabled women, women who miscarry and can't prove it, the poor... the list goes on. Since Abrahamic religion has such an appalling record on human rights, it's not such a large step to make.
That is why "choose life or die" is a rather dangerous mentality to have. Even without the above, the 'choice' between forced pregnancy or death is not a great incentive to procreate at all. And don't get me started on the implication the OP makes that babies should be used as a punishment for sexually-active women. That is all shades of fucked up.
@DavidS: Very good point.
Sick asshole. Of course, fundies don't care if a fetus/embryo is conceived by rape/incest, is drug/alcohol addicted, develops some horrible genetic defect (such as anacephalus), or will be born into a home with physical/emotional/verbal/spiritual abuse. To fundies, it's all about CONTROL - and their belief that they have the RIGHT to control women. For fundies, women are only baby machines, to stay home & raise children ONLY, and to be subservient to men. I have never heard of fundies offering to pay to raise all these 'babies' they claim to be trying to 'save'. As far as they are concerned, once the baby is born, their 'concern' for it evaporates & they say to the woman, 'You should have kept your legs closed, too bad.' Fucking fundy assholes.
And, following your logic, if I miscarriage a baby, should I be tried for manslaughter?. By the way, what "life" are you supporter of?
My mother never wanted me, but was forced to have me anyway. I'm one of those "punishment babies"; it's a miserable way to grow up. She blamed me constantly for ruining her life by being born.
Why in blue flaming hell would I want to inflict that on someone else? I'm not a sadistic fundie!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
