"If you want to avoid potentially dangerous [...] drugs"
Well, in another Jonathan Edwards' case, he'd completely agree with you. Him winning an Olympic Gold medal was all down to him not taking drugs, natch.
And at that time, he was a long-time Christian.
However, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if - in his youth - he'd been given the various jabs, vaccinations etc at school, as everyone has, yours truly included (I still have the marks of the 'Six Needles' on my left arm to this day!)
That 'Jonathan Edwards' dying of a smallpox 'vaccination' then? I think you'll find there was a vast difference in medical scientific knowledge between the early-mid 18th Century, and that of the mid-late 20th Century.
Thus the Smallpox Eradication Program from 1950-80 - in which the last person died of the disease in 1977 - which succeeded.
The virus now only exists in sample flasks in certain labs around the world, with debate in the scientific establishment to this day on if they should be used for anti-virological research, or destroyed.
And that, I suspect is the whole nub of your 'anti-vaxxing' screed BS gist today: that Smallpox Eradication Program was too successful, certainly for your 'beliefs' own good. Scientists now have it in their power to make one of your 'God's creations extinct.
Science - 1, God - 0.
Leprosy, that ol' Biblical favourite, is easily treatable these days.
Science - 2, God - 0.
HIV, if diagnosed early enough, can have it's onset arrested by anti-retroviral drugs. The ongoing research into HIV & AIDS treatments: into it's genome.
You want to go for Triple Jeopardy, Davey-boy, where the stakes can really change...?!
Oh, how that would be a hat-trick for medical science? And - as per Smallpox & Leprosy - one more source of righteous indignation cruelly wrested away from you fundies. >:D
...oh, and as for Jonathan Edwards today, who no doubt received vaccinations in his youth? He's still here, still keeping on being the go-to guy for all your sports presentation needs (as per the 2012 London Paralympics for Channel 4, and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics). P.R. wise, his star is in the ascendant, and couldn't be higher. Mighty, you could say.
And - via those four magic letters 'OSAS' - he's having his 'Salvation' cake as a now former long-time Christian, yet eating it as an Atheist, so there's all your BS completely destroyed, Davey-boy.
