The common thread to all athiest thinking ,I would assume, is that the world would be better off without Christianity.

No, just the just the kind that compels people to hate, kill, and strive for the power to compel others do the same. Same as in virtually every other religion.
Expand that notion to religion in general, and we're getting somewhere. Though I endured an upbringing as a homosexual child of a Christian parent, I've seen the absolute travesty that's Sharia, the faith-required genital mutilation Jews undergo, the ignorance of basic science other faiths espouse, unsafe dietary or medical practices...
Dustbin's in the corner, religion. Go park. Your buddy faith can stay with its friends, though; I'm cool with that.
All atheists, by definitions, think there is no god, and that therefore all religions are false.
Most think that it is better when people don't fool themselves, so they think we'd be better off without any religion.
Some, mostly in the western world, concentrate on Christianity, because it is the most influent religion where they live.
The world would certainly be better off without the ignorance, bigotry, fear and hatred engendered by some aspects of some religions. I don't give a toss what fantasies people choose to believe in, but when they use them as justification to infringe upon the lives of others they've stepped over the line.

The common thread to all right-wing Fundamental ist Christian thinking, we Atheists know for a fact however, is that the world would be better off without thinking that isn't exactly like theirs: right-wing Fundamental ist Christian.
Saudi Arabia is a shining example of open, free, worship (or not ) however you want, religious hyper -tolerance, is it not?! [/OVER 9000-levels of sarcasm]
Clearly solomon here has never heard of two words: 'Theocracy'. 'Dominionism'.
And I thought that Solomon was supposed to be wise ...?!
not at all, all religion really.
Religion has acted sometimes to limit human conduct in a good way, but its good is outweighed by it excesses.
Kill in the name of Jesus, and there is no excuse you should be allowed to exist.
Christians aren't the only theists around, stupid.
The world might be better off without religion. We would at least have fewer wars between sunni and shia, between protestants and catholics, etc.
- Nothing in the definition of atheist says anything about Christianity.
- There have been atheist long before Christianity existed.
- Not every atheist wants all religion to stop existing, some of us think of it more in the vein of “life and let life”.
So I would say your assumption stands on very shaky ground.
"athiest(sic) thinking"
LOL
Well, that's not THE common thread. Some people do believe that I'm sure. But quite a bit of people as well think that religion is fine, but do not believe it. There is no common thread to atheist thinking really.
The world would be better off without religion in general, but barring that the world would be better off without religious fundamentalism of all stripes.
And not every atheist agrees with me.
The only requirement to be an atheist is that you don't believe in any god(s). That is it.

Ah, well, you assume poorly. BIG surprise.
