Barrier methods can be Very effective, if you're consistant. FAM or NFP can be Very effective, if you stay on top of it. Above all though, know that G-d is in control of your fertility and if He chooses to bless you with a baby sometime in the future, He will. If you've had the full number of babies He wants you to have, then you won't get pregnant again no matter what method you choose.

From da Wik...
" Sexual reproduction is a union that results in increasing genetic diversity of the offspring. It is characterized by two processes: meiosis, involving the halving of the number of chromosomes; and fertilization, involving the fusion of two gametes and the restoration of the original number of chromosomes. During meiosis, the chromosomes of each pair usually cross over to achieve genetic recombination.
The evolution of sex is a major puzzle. The first fossilized evidence of sexually reproducing organisms is from eukaryotes of the Stenian period, about 1.2 to 1 billion years ago with DNA forming 3.5 - 4.6 billion years.[1]Sexual reproduction is the primary method of reproduction for the vast majority of visible organisms, including almost all animals and plants. Bacterial conjugation, the transfer of DNA between two bacteria, is often mistakenly confused with sexual reproduction, because the mechanics are similar
"
Nope. Nothing about god in there. Unless you think the plants and animals are praying to god as well?
Yeh right, and if you get a loaded shotgun and place it in your mouth and push the trigger with a stick you'll only blow your brains out if G-d wants you to redecorate the wall.
What's the big fucking mystery with sex that makes it all "magic"? Is this the sort of shit they teach you in abstinence only education?

People across the globe have been constantly testing this hypothesis since before even stone tools were invented, and the result comes up the same every single fucking time: either it's just not true, or God undeniably wants everyone on the planet too stupid to do otherwise to have so many kids that they all grow up crippled by poverty.

"Barrier methods can be Very effective"
Anf for one moment I was thinking she was talking about barrier jackets... then reality hit XD
"If you've had the full number of babies He wants you to have, then you won't get pregnant again no matter what method you choose."
Of course, the full number of babies is (Age-at-end-of-fertility)-(Age-at-marriage) divided by 3/4 - this is your full number of pregnancies P.
To get the full numbers of Babies B, take P + P*(probability for twins) + P*(Probability for 3 babies)...+P*(Probability for n babies).
There is no adjustment for infant mortaility or miscarriage, since they believe embryos to be babies after all.
Any questions?
Yes, God lets you know you've had enough children.
How, you ask?
Well, when your body can't withstand the stress of another pregnancy, you die. Of course, if you're a fundie, then women are just baby factories anyway, so it's not like you can't get a replacement.
Ugh, you people are so ignorant, it gives me a headache.
And 'G-d' also protects you from STDs? so when you get AIDs, don't feel bad, it because 'G-d' wanted you to have AIDs! there, doesn't that make you feel better?
@MrBadAxe & Osiris - I never understood that fundie logic either. If God can do anything, including, um, I don't know...knock up a virgin, why does birth control get in His way?
If you've had the full number of babies He wants you to have, then you won't get pregnant again no matter what method you choose
People used to think if God didn't want you to be hit by lightning, you didn't need a lighting rod. After a number of churches were burned to a crisp following this theory while the local whore house with the lightning rod survived, fundies finally realized God only seems to smite the stupid, not the Godless. So they put up lightning rods. Now we have morons proposing the same idea for birth control.
"If you've had the full number of babies He wants you to have, then you won't get pregnant again no matter what method you choose"
Ah yes, the good ol' undeniable argument:
rational human: "But X used the pill and had 2 children, Y used NFP and had 14"
jgonz: "Well then, by the principle of blatant assertion, that proves that G-d wanted X to have 2 and Y to have 14."
How convenient of this G-d bloke to play along with the percentages. (Strange really, seeing as G-d apparently likes to totally mess with the percentages elsewhere, like burying fossils that just *appear* to support the ToE, just to mess with us.)
[tangent] Anyone who writes "G-d" gets 10 extra Fundy Points (redeemable (ahaha) at rapture) automatically. "God" is a title/description, you smegging dumbass. His/Her holy and "unwritable" *name* is YHWH (or some variant thereof). You have no problem writing the actual personal name "Jesus" (who, last time I checked standard Christian dogma, is equal to YHWH in kind and stature), but shake in fear at the notion of writing the descriptive noun "god". You are mentally damaged. [/tangent]
I think that might have a bit to do with the severe negative impact your gargantuan waistlines have on your fertility, far more than a little sky pixie.
For one thing, no one blubbers up to 300+lbs purely due to pregnancy. For another, that's supposed to come back down for the most part ('cept a fiveish pounds after the first kid, and hey, most of that's in a good spot, but the rest? gone if you live healthy).
And finally, its most especially not a fucking excuse for the *FATHER*
So I guess I should check to see if my urologists has horns before getting an old fashioned, permanant, unreversable vasectomy without fathering even one kid? If he's got horns hell, I'll pay him double to do it.
Barrier methods work if you use 'em right. True.
NFP works if you use it right. Also true.
FAM works if you use it right- true, though the effectiveness rate will be either that of the NFP method used or the barrier used during fertility, whichever is lower.
It all doesn't matter 'cause God decides when you get pregnant?
If this God guy is the one who keeps my best friend from the pregnancy she wants so desperately while letting sucked up toothless tweakers get knocked up yet again with babies they don't want, he deserves a hot poker up his imaginary arse.
Years ago, MANY years ago, my mother asked a pediatrician in Savannah what he thought of church approved methods of birth control. He said he loved them, 10 of the last 12 babies that he had delivered were caused by them, they were great for business. Nothing changes among these clowns.
Have you had your full number of babies?
Yes - I like them very much - but I'm stuffed, I just couldn't manage another one...
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
