[You have me confused with someone else, obviously. I have never advocated anointing a Prince of the Church and Successor of the Apostles as a leader of our civic government.]

However, I have, and still do advocate anointing a "Prince of the Church and Successor of the Apostles" as a leader in our civic government.

Let the Bishop of Rome choose one of our American Bishops to be our "king"! I would support that whole heartedly!!!

Considering how much liberal Catholics in the US are at odds with the Vatican, I don't see too many of them digging the idea of a Catholic theocracy. I mean, yeah, there's the traditionalists too, but I suspect a good number of them are closet sedevacantists too, so it's pretty safe to say that if the RCC even tried something like that, the hard-core Catholics would be falling all over themselves trying to take sides, while the bulk of American Catholics would be mildly amused and go about their business.

Besides, conservative Catholics all over the world back quite a few royalist-restoration movements, and I don't think any of them are particularly close to succeeding.

Depends at what: the few times that the local royalists manage to get themselves heard over the deafening indifference, they are quite successful at getting me to laugh myself into a coma. Unless they are the (sadly common among their ilk) racist, nationalistico-fascist kind, in which case they succeed at obtaining my contempt.

Oh and don't forget the little chair to peek at the bits to make sure it really is a King.

That's for the Pope, Julian, and IIRC it's just an old urban legend.
