'i don't care what you put, abortion is murder'
So, you don't really care what the Bible actually says? You've just been told that abortion is murder, so you're going to keep convincing yourself that the Bible says things it doesn't?
Did Jesus ever say anything about abolishing OT laws? I think it was quite the other way around. If you don't follow them, you can't get into heaven.
(The whole "Not one letter from the law shall be changed before all has passed" and "Be more rightious than a pharisee" part of the bible)
But ofcourse you can be against abortion on personal basis. There is often something outside of the bible aswell. It would just mean that it goes from "The bible says" to "I find".
"... everything that in Exodus 21:22 and the stuff that follows is all changed by Jesus ..."
Funny thing, then, that Jesus never said a word about abortion, In fact, it is not mentioned any where in your Big Book of Fairy Tales, even though it has been practiced since ancient times, well before the first biblical lie was invented.
Come to think of it, Jesus never said anything about homosexuality, either. Guess he was too busy preaching against religious hypocrits and such.
As far as Jesus's sayings about fulfilling the law rather than abolishing it -
These passages have several interpretations depending on which gospel you're looking at (intent of the author) and whether or not you're examining whether Jesus said it, the author of the gospel inserted it, or another editor later inserted it.
A popular interpretation in less conservative churches is that Jesus did say these words, but the intent was not to say "every law must be observed" but to say "you can't possibly observe every law, and you can't pick and choose which ones to follow." Meaning, all of you are or will be guilty of failure to observe one of the OT laws, and thus will fall short in God's eyes. Whether Jesus said this, or a later author did, it was meant as a jab at pious Jews who believed they could enter God's kingdom simply through overt displays of pious and righteous adherance to law. Jesus's words, however, state that no one can be perfect by following the law, and no human can choose which laws apply and which don't (contrary to fundie interpretation!). Therefore, it is only by God's gift of grace that people enter God's kingdom, completely bypassing the law (as stated by Paul - and for this reason it's likely something the gospel authors or later writers wrote in to make Jesus's teachings agree with Paul's).
Actually, Jesus said the OT law was forever and not a jot was to be changed. Paul wanted to abolish OT law because it was hard to sell to the pagans, but Jesus never abolished OT law.
You seem to fancy yourself a Christian, but then you say that you don't care what the Bible says. Curious.
Other than that passage in Exodus, I can't think of any part of the Bible which comes close to addressing abortion.
"...oh here's one more thing, everything that in Exodus 21:22 and the stuff that follows is all changed by Jesus..."
Great! Then we don't have to follow the 10 commandments! Rip 'em down wherever you find them, 'cause Jebus said they don't matter anymore!
Thankful, I think you should run right to your church and proclaim that Jebus said to shit-can the Old Testament 'cause he was better than his old man. Let us know how that works for you, yeah?
And just like that Thankful For Life dismisses 37 books of the bible.
If abortion or right to life of a fetus were so important to god/jesus, why isn't there jack all to say about them? WHy not put it into the commandments? Apparently coveting a goat is more important to your god. And all of the laws against slavery? Oh, right, god likes the idea of slaves. That's what being a christian is all about, right?
Exodus....the stuff that follows is all changed by Jesus
Wouldn't Jesus be dishonoring his father by doing that? In contravention of the fourth (or fifth) commandment (depending on whether you're of a Catholic / Lutheran or Jewish / Protestant persuasion)
Well, I remember seeing a site that had (among other things) a list of all the biblical laws and commandments Jesus broke. Dishonouring his father was but one of the transgressions they found him guilty of. Unfortunately I didn't save the URL, which I now regret because they had a lot of useful articles.
I second Old Viking's suggestion of a "God Meant To Say It" Award -- either that or some award to reflect the hypocrisy of the fact that the poster claims biblical support yet essentially DOES NOT CARE what the Bible ACTUALLY says and even pointedly throws out huge chunks of it that disagree with his/her view, despite not having anything that actually supports his/her view. So much for being a champion of the Bible!

This person's legal research skills are amazing. I would like to put him or her to work at my firm.
"I didn't bother to back up my claim with sources or reasoning. I just know I'm right, your honor, and anyone the disagrees with me is a moron. Look at the Constitution - it definitely says you need to award my client $1 billion... dude"
I ought to try that argument sometime.
*Scratches head*
Stop me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the bible "written" (a little bit here, a little bit there ..) well after the death of the sub/co god jesus? Just how was the man able to do away with something that had not yet been conceived (no, not a baby or zygot)...let alone documented.
Exodus 21:22: If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

that's not the quote
No? Oh, because it doesn't support you?
...abortion is murder...
No it isn't..
...sorry i don't memorize the bible by heart...
Yet you proclaim to know everything that's in there and simply dismiss it when it contradicts you.
...i don't care what you put...
Acme Translator is starting up.
Machine translations are imperfect. Single-tired-person translations may be equally flawed. Fundiebabble-to-English translator now engaged.
Translation:
My belief about what the Bible says is more accurate than the Bible. If the Bible and I disagree about what the Bible says, then the Bible says what I believe it says, not what it says.
,,,abortion is murder...
Repitition =/= truth.
...it's stupid...
It's much better than causing yourself misery raising a rapist's child.
...it's selfish...
It harms no one.
...oh here's one more thing, everything that in Exodus 21:22 and the stuff that follows is all changed by Jesus...
Yet you can't cite the passage. (Hint: This is because you pulled it out of your ass.)
Of course, Jesus says that the laws of the Old Testament do and do not apply, but he never says abortion is wrong. If he never said it's wrong, there's no biblical law against it.
...abortion is murder dude
I heard you the first two times. You can say it until you're blue in the face, but it's still not true.
Confused?
